6 / 10.0 - Hardware: Rivals
Mar 31, 2016

Hardware: Rivals isn't the best game in the world, but it's certainly not terrible. There's a good selection of maps to play on, as well as some classic game modes that make up the bulk of multiplayer games. The combat is sketchy at times, but with a bit of practice (and a lot of patience) you'll find yourself racking up the points.

8 / 10.0 - Far Cry Primal
Mar 31, 2016

Far Cry Primal does enough to shake off the feeling that it's just Far Cry 4 with a different coat on. Exploration is the name of the game and the story kind of takes a back seat. Obviously the game follows the Ubisoft open-world playbook to the page and doesn't skip a beat, but it's actually a refreshing palette cleanser to do away with the futuristic shooters that have bombarded the market in recent years.

7 / 10.0 - Organic Panic
Apr 1, 2016

Organic Panic is a genuinely impressive little game that'll have you smiling and screaming in equal amounts. Intricately designed levels and top-notch physic-based gameplay go hand-in-hand to deliver a rare gaming experience: proper fun that makes you think. It's colourful, it's bright, it's got some wicked sounds behind it, this one isn't a 'must buy' but it's certainly a 'should try'.

7 / 10.0 - Street Fighter V
Apr 3, 2016

Street Fighter V feels like a great game in the making - literally, in the making. The unfinished story mode that feels cheaply tacked together and the distinct lack of single-player focus makes me think that Capcom is hoping that players will forgive the day-one let downs by throwing updates at the game post-release.

Awesomenauts provides fun by the bucket load. It takes a while to get accustomed to the different characters and play stlyes, but once you've mastered the basics the rest falls into place. Solid fun and even better if you can get a few mates together.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is a fitting finale for the hero that's been knocking around with the PlayStation brand for almost a decade. There's highs and lows, and while it's not a perfect game, it does a helluva lot more right than it does wrong. The story is so-so but that's what we kinda expected. What really shines are the characters, the locales and the gameplay. Four out of five ain't bad. If you've a passing interest in story-driven shooters, give this one a go and then do it again to try out the different playstyles/collect the trophies. It's been worth the wait.

N.E.R.O: Nothing Ever Remains Obscure isn't your typical game but is instead an experience worthy of your time, provided you've got a bit of maturity about you. The story is excellent, if a little predicatable, and it moves along nicely thanks to the expertly deployed music, creepy yet fantastical world, and strong controls that keep you in the moment. The only real downside I can think of is that its running time is just a couple hours too short for my greedy self.

Carmageddon: Max Damage has the bare essentials in play to be a decent game but is hampered by the poor execution. It's a lengthy game that'll provide more than a few bangs for your buck, but you may find yourself banging your own head in.

8.5 / 10.0 - Videoball
Jul 11, 2016

Videoball is, in a word, awesome. It's easy to pick up and play but it'll take more than a few goes to master. With four player support on PS4 (more on PC) this could become THE go-to party game. It's basically Pong made for the millennials and I can't get enough of it. I'll say this: I wouldn't be surprised to see Videoball reach the same level of Rocket League in terms of popularity.

9 / 10.0 - Doom
Jul 25, 2016

Doom is a game that I did not ever expect to be remade, but it feels great. The combat is fierce, and the game's focus on combat is right on target. The guns feel solid, and the monsters feel vicious. The game looks great and plays smoothly with music and sound that is responsive and as intense as the action in front of you. The glory kills and arenas keep the blood pumping from beginning to end and you definitely earn those upgrade points. Although the load times can be a little annoying, the levels themselves play without any issues after the initial load. Overall, the game is an excellent package, bringing Doom back into modern gaming with the spirit of the old gameplay intact for long time fans and adding features that enhance the experience. If you have a PS4 and you have a passing interest in shooters, do not miss this excellent game.

The first episode of Batman: The Telltale Series sets a foundation that gives Bruce Wayne the same narrative importance as Batman. The game allows the player a lot of choice throughout the episode to determine how both characters will respond to the world and shape it through those responses. The new engine, the voice acting, music, and sound breathe life into a two dimensional Gotham. The graphics are definitely the best Telltale has ever produced, but there was a slight, but noticeable, judder in a couple areas. The story and dialogue are very good. This is only the first episode, but it promises great potential for future episodes.

8 / 10.0 - No Man's Sky
Aug 6, 2016

No Man's Sky aims to capture your imagination and throw you into an adventure like no game has ever done before. It succeeds in creating a scarily vast universe in which you, the player, feel so tiny and insignificant. The thought that you'll never see another human is equally depressing as it is awesome. You know there's others out there, but the most interaction you'll ever have is landing on a planet called 'Your Mum'. It's a drag at times, especially once you dedicate yourself to getting to the center and seeing what all the fuss is about, but it's not really the end goal that matters, it's the journey. If you're a fan of exploration games, go for it.

7.5 / 10.0 - Abzu
Aug 11, 2016

Abzu is a beautiful experience, and the visuals are some of the best I have seen all year. The soundtrack for the game is something that needs to be heard and seen in context to truly be appreciated, but it is good enough to give it a listen separately. The game is relaxing and peaceful to play. If there are others in the room, they will be entranced. Unfortunately, the game is extremely short and does not offer much variety. If this type of game appeals to you, buy it immediately. If not, you may want to wait for a sale. Either way, I look forward to visiting the world again soon.

8.3 / 10.0 - Inversus
Aug 16, 2016

INVERSUS may be short on content overall but the way it’s designed will ensure you’re having a great time with all the varied experiences. It’s a true return to form of the arcade, cabinet experience. Just hearing the “pew pew” noises of your square’s shots brings back memories of the 80’s and 90’s machine scene. Chaining together kills, wiping out the entire map due to a well placed shot, and not only having to act as well as think was truly gratifying. I can’t wait until the game releases so I can play more players and see what other situations are brought about.

7.8 / 10.0 - INSIDE
Aug 25, 2016

"To me, this game is a modern classic that truly showcases what a developer can achieve when they try to bring every aspect of a game together to form a cohesive piece of art. I would recommend it to fans of Limbo, Abzu and any Oddworld-type platformer. I am acutely aware, however, that this opinion will not be shared by everyone who plays"

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided gives the player a lot of choice in how to solve problems, and is arguably its most interesting and powerful feature. You can really tailor the game to your preferred play style of stealth, action, or a mix of the two. This choice extends to the story, and, considering Adam Jensen is never Mr. Enthusiasm, that is a good thing. Outside some minor issues, the visuals are good, and the music is solid. The story and world are why you should play this game, and they deliver. The ending could have been a little more gradual, but it sets up the sequel perfectly. We can all hope to not have to wait five more years to get the answers this game leaves waiting to be explored.

8.5 / 10.0 - Hue
Aug 29, 2016

Hue may have fallen slightly apart at the end but it is a delightful puzzle platformer you should try out. The story, even if told in exposition, kept me interested and I really wanted to solve the mystery of the mother's disappearance. The plot was further enhanced by the music and art. Everything technical wise was astounding in this game. The notes, the colors, the art design, the style, you name it. This game is simply beautiful. The puzzles themselves were even enjoyable because they were a good type of challenging (until the end anyway.) As far as puzzlers go this is one great entry into the genre.

6.5 / 10.0 - DOGOS
Sep 4, 2016

"A lack of all-round polish means that DOGOS gets an average score from me, but I would like to re-iterate, this should be a definite purchase for genre fans or anyone who yearns for the simpler days of parallax scrolling (Google it)."

7 / 10.0 - Metrico +
Sep 4, 2016

Metrico+ is as annoying as it is awesome. On one hand, I loved the visual presentation and the absolute minimalist design. On the other, I hate maths with a passion. Still, the game kept me entertained for a good few hours and I really did feel like a god-damn genius when I passed a level. Any game that makes me feel smarter is OK in my book.

Nuka World is a fun 10-15 hour adventure. It's just a shame the beginning and end felt incredibly lackluster. The new areas to explore are superb, the new weapons and enemies bring good change to the game, and my inner child couldn't be happier with the setting. If only the plot in this DLC wasn't just tacked on to an already great idea of having an amusement park in Fallout. Still when I finished Nuka World I was satisfied with my twenty dollar purchase. After all some say Fallout's fun is in the exploration and discovery and that's exactly what you have to look forward too here.
