10 / 10.0 - Horizon Zero Dawn
Mar 5, 2017

Horizon Zero Dawn is nothing short of a masterpiece that elevates Guerrilla Games to the likes of Naughty Dog and CD Projekt Red. The unique, engrossing story, complex and fast-paced gameplay, absolutely gorgeous open world to traverse, and so much more are brought to life thanks to the Killzone developer. The game has genuinely made it into my top ten list of all time and will probably make it higher once time has passed. There's nothing that should stop you from buying this title if you have a PlayStation 4. Hell if you don't have one, buy a system just for this game. This isn't just a magnificent RPG video game, it's a journey that everyone should experience.

9.5 / 10.0 - Battlefield 1
Oct 25, 2016

"Simply put, I haven't had this much fun in a Battlefield title since Battlefield 1943 and haven't enjoyed myself in a shooter like this since Resistance 2. The multiplayer is above all fun and the campaign is as exciting as it is traumatizing. The sounds, sights, and atmosphere all scream in unison of a job well done by DICE. This is easily my favorite Battlefield so far and I see myself playing it for a very long time. Rocket League and RIGS will sadly have to make some room. If you had to choose just one shooter this year (let alone for the foreseeable future) Battlefield 1 should definitely be high on your list."

9.5 / 10.0 - SUPERHOT (VR)
Jul 14, 2017

SUPERHOT VR is the epitome of cool. You're thrown into your very own action movie that'll have you slaying fools over and over again as you spawn, shoot, die, repeat. If you're a PSVR owner, you owe it to yourself to at least try this out

A great example of quest writing and storytelling. An excellent modern take on the CRPG. The choice system feels meaningful throughout and a lack of rigid moral judgement means you're free to roleplay as you see fit. A must buy for RPG fans looking for a deep, choice-driven experience. The world feels alive and unique and there's a profound sense of immersion that's helped along by every aspect of the game coming together as one. The only minor negative is combat that occasionally doesn't work as intended but its innovative approach to problem-solving saves the day.

9.5 / 10.0 - Outlast II

Outlast 2 is a lesson in the first-person horror genre and Red Barrels has shown us that they can make lightning strike twice.

THPS1+2 is probably the best remake I've played. It perfectly captures the core fun of the original games, including the original soundtrack and skaters, and brings it up to modern standards with surprisingly few tweaks outside of the graphics and audio work. Perfect for long time loyal fans, and a great starting point for newcomers.

9.5 / 10.0 - What the Dub?!
Apr 8, 2021

What The Dub?! is the best party game I've ever played - simple as that. Its core concept is super simple and the execution is easy. The hard part? Being funny enough to make it worth playing, but that's on you.

Awesomenauts provides fun by the bucket load. It takes a while to get accustomed to the different characters and play stlyes, but once you've mastered the basics the rest falls into place. Solid fun and even better if you can get a few mates together.

"Let me put it this way. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue brought back memories of playing a new Kingdom Hearts experience on console for the first time with the highlight being 0.2 A Fragmentary Passage. It's sure to entertain and please fans for awhile with the story, boss battles, and handy carryover saves. The Back Cover, or cutscene movie, may not offer much in the way of answers but it raises some intriguing questions and lays some interesting groundwork for the road to come. Lastly, the Dream Drop Distance remaster may have some minor technical hiccups but otherwise you wouldn't be able to tell it came from a handheld. All and all it's a no-brainer that fans should pick this up. Heck, to some of us Aqua's story alone is worth the price of admission. Now if only money could build a working time machine and take us to a place that has Kingdom Hearts 3 on retail shelves."

9.2 / 10.0 - Aragami
Oct 4, 2016

"Aragami was a great experience. It breathed life into its world, offered many ways to travel and battle, and will provide you with much replability. With only my recognition of a certain plot point and a handful of minor issues serving as cons, I can't praise this game enough. For stealth enthusiasts this is a must buy and I highly recommend it even for those who would normally like to shoot their way past everything. Lince Works has easily made it to my list of developers to watch out for and I can't wait to see what they'll do next."

9.2 / 10.0 - Knockout League
Feb 18, 2018

Knockout League mixes a ton of polish with some great nostalgic boxing action. The fact that it’s an intense full body workout is a plus, if you’re into that sort of thing.

9 / 10.0 - Doom
Jul 25, 2016

Doom is a game that I did not ever expect to be remade, but it feels great. The combat is fierce, and the game's focus on combat is right on target. The guns feel solid, and the monsters feel vicious. The game looks great and plays smoothly with music and sound that is responsive and as intense as the action in front of you. The glory kills and arenas keep the blood pumping from beginning to end and you definitely earn those upgrade points. Although the load times can be a little annoying, the levels themselves play without any issues after the initial load. Overall, the game is an excellent package, bringing Doom back into modern gaming with the spirit of the old gameplay intact for long time fans and adding features that enhance the experience. If you have a PS4 and you have a passing interest in shooters, do not miss this excellent game.

South Park The Fractured But Whole builds on the previous game to provide better mechanics with a greatly improved UI to power its superhero-inspired story. Outside a few individuals, your favorite South Park residents are well represented in a crazy, fully explorable world that only South Park could create.

"Resident Evil 7 didn't just take the series back to form, it perfected it. Sure there will be satisfying combat but not before running around for your life filled with dread. The story and plot twists were entertaining as they were interesting and all the scares that came along with it. The voice actors did a phenomenal job and so did the level designers. There was never a time where I felt safe and ready to take on the next challenge. Old schools fans of the franchise will love this outing and is a perfect opportunity for new fans to hop on board. Just don't burn the midnight oil alone."

"If you have a PS VR, then you need RIGS: Mechanized Combat League. I would even say that come the holiday season it will be a system seller or in this case, a peripheral seller. The matter of the fact is that the experience and what is offered simply works perfectly with the PS VR technology. The gameplay is new and exciting, the maps and level design are near perfect, and the straight up amount of mechs to wield is impressive. You only have beginning motion sickness and weird screen tilts to thank for holding this mech shooter back. It wouldn't hurt to have more maps and modes but for what was promised, RIGS delivers to be the definitive first party, launch title."

9 / 10.0 - Tethered (VR)
Oct 24, 2016

For me, Tethered is the first true full single player game for PlayStation VR. It's not just that it offers great value in terms of playtime, but it's a great game, too. There's more than meets the eye with this cute little strategy game, and it's far too easy to get lost within its colourful worlds.

"Telltale is still in master form with the story telling and character development. Old characters help lift up the narrative and new ones bring a breath of fresh air to the emotional tale. The plot itself will keep you engaged (as always) and you'll want to play until the drama ends. Which, for the most part, never does. The only thing holding back episode 1 and 2 of A New Frontier are the classic technical problems that have plagued these games from their inception. The Walking Dead Season Three is shaping up to be the pinnacle of the series and I would do anything right now to play the next episode."

9 / 10.0 - HoloBall (VR)
Nov 20, 2016

Holoball made me sweat, and for that I hate it. But it also gave me hours of fun, and for that I love it. It's the most simple concept in gaming that's older than myself: Hit a ball back-and-forth and try to score a point. A premise so simple, yet so elegantly executed. Toss in the fact it's releasing at a fair price and you've got yourself a genuine bargain.

9 / 10.0 - Yooka Laylee
Apr 3, 2017

Yooka-Laylee is just what the industry needed: a firm, colourul, kick up the bum. There's lots to do, even more to see, and even more to collect. An expandable game that really does justice to the genre it's trying to revive. It's been a long time that a game has kept my attention with pure gameplay alone. It's a timeless classic that'll join the ranks of Spyro, Crash and Banjo, and deservedly so. Gimme more. Please.

9 / 10.0 - Destiny 2
Sep 13, 2017

A massively improved campaign, satisfying combat and addictive loot all comes together to create another winner for Bungie, who have clearly listened regarding complaints about the first Destiny to smash it out of the park with Destiny 2. Do yourself a favour and give it a try.
