ARK: Survival Evolved could have brought another interesting and fun game to the Nintendo Switch catalogue. Instead it's a severely distorted experience which due to its poor graphical performance, ends up not fulfilling any of its ideas correctly. As a consequence of its terrible lack of fluidity, pop ups and mistakes on the graphics department, ARK: Survival Evolved turns out to be an extremely frustrating effort that leaves no one satisfied.

3 / 10 - Vaccine
Aug 30, 2017

Vaccine may be based on a good concept but it deserved a sharper execution and better controls, not to mention a more presentable audiovisual environment. Its lack of variety and overall sense of dullness mean that what could have been a fun and engaging game ends up becoming a non-performing idea that is overridden by its negative elements.

Oct 29, 2016

Its gameplay is extremely frustrating and entirely based on trial and error, forcing the players to repeat the sames stages over and over under an extremely tight time limit and making use of very inaccurate and imprecise controls, which will only aggravate the players' overwhelming sense of frustration.

3 / 10 - ASH
Dec 9, 2016

ASH tries hard to pay tribute to turn-based RPGs of the 1980s and 1990s...so hard that it doesn't realize that genres evolve for a reason. This game is mostly stuck on a sea of obsolescence and not even its well-written dialogues can add a different flair to a production that does poorly in nearly every other aspect.

Reptilian Rebellion may feature a funny concept interesting enough for a title of this dimension but the game has nothing else going for it, as its interface and visual appearance are below the acceptable standards and its gameplay quickly becomes way too dull, even for an eShop title at this price. There are several better alternatives in the Wii U's digital catalogue for this style.

Blast 'Em Bunnies ends up being an example of how downloadable content should not be managed at all.

3 / 10 - Dinox
Jan 12, 2016

Dinox attempts to enter the genre of educational games with videos and questions about dinosaurs. Unfortunately, the way this is structured is not stimulating enough for its target audience and the only skill it stimulates is short term memory.

3 / 10 - Totem Topple
Dec 16, 2015

Within the tower defence style, this game falls below expectations as far as contents are concerned and it even gives the impression that it was not fully completed by the time of release. Its interface is far from intuitive, its elements lack variety and it can be surprisingly difficult in many instances.

It's hard to understand why such a flawed piece of work would be released without at least a major revision. Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! tries and fails not only at being a decent playable effort, but even at portraying a popular animation series for its fans. If anything, it provides an example of what not to do in a game.

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee on the Nintendo Switch brings back this chapter in the Oddworld series and while the gameplay mechanics are solid and the Oddworld universe remains attractive, it's clear that there was not enough work in this conversion to make it appealing enough beyond fans of the original game, especially when it comes to its visual environment and to its frustrating controls.

Last Encounter on the Nintendo Switch is a twin-stick shooter with a roguelike structure that puts the player exploring a hostile galaxy and if its ideas regarding upgrades and development, as well as a more careful approach to combat, are positive, the end result is a rather frustrating experience where it can become too cumbersome to pursue with upgrading the ship and where a simple mistake will throw the player all the way back.

Shadows 2: Perfidia has ambitions when it comes to immersing the player in a scary environment but they only turn out to fulfill half of the game's goals: the sound is definitely on the right track, but its visual environment does more harm than good. The overall gameplay mechanics are nothing to write home about either, but its use of a sanity meter hits the right spot. Anyone looking for a groundbreaking work won't be impressed but players interested in a good soundscape and tempted by the use of a sanity mechanic will enjoy some time around Shadows 2: Perfidia.

AeternoBlade 2 for the Nintendo Switch follows the Metrovania style and adds some RPG elements to a game that features some good ideas. Unfortunately it doesn't take long until the player realizes that those ideas are executed rather poorly and the game lacks a serious polishing work. Furthermore, long loading times, frustrating combat and technical issues only harm the experience further and make this AeternoBlade 2 something hard to recommend.

Reaper: Tale of a Pale Swordsman is a simple game with simple mechanics. That alone can mean many things but mostly, it's because this game was not made thinking of the Nintendo Switch but rather mobile devices. That said, the experience is what players can expect from a simple, short game without a high level of demand. Unfortunately it doesn't go much further either and with some much better alternatives on the Nintendo Switch catalogue, there are no big reasons to recommend Tale of a Pale Swordsman.

4 / 10 - Desert Child
Jan 13, 2020

Desert Child for the Nintendo Switch intends to be a simple, unpretentious racing game. Unfortunately, other than a pleasant art style and references to Cowboy Bebop, the gameplay on offer doesn't stand out or add anything remarkable compared to the existing catalogue. A rather dull experience, without a significant degree of challenge and very much unexplored by its development, Desert Child does not amount to a recommended racing game for the Nintendo Switch.

Guess the Word on the Nintendo Switch has been adapted from the mobile market and even though it presents itself as an educational game, its value as such a work is very limited. Short in content, with only one gaming mode and lacking in the very element it bases itself on, Guess the Word does not fulfill any of its objectives and will feel too limited and too short for everyone, including its target audience.

Override Mecha City Brawl, a long name for a simple game. Featuring combats with colossal machines in urban areas, the game is easy to get into thanks to its accessible controls and features plenty of customization options. Unfortunately it does a less stellar work on the quality of the experience, which often feels too limited and repetitive. The game also feels out of place as a handheld experience and its online space is nearly deserted, consequences of a price tag that is too high for what's on offer.

Into the Dead 2 is an endless runner originating in the mobile gaming segment and for that, it does a decent job with its apocalyptic atmosphere and fun gameplay mechanics. If only it had been properly adapted for the Nintendo Switch, however, then perhaps the game would be something more worthy of the console's catalogue, rather than a visually enhanced version of a short experience for mobile devices. As such, it's also impossible to justify its selling price when the original version is free.

The Bradwell Conspiracy is a game that may feature some interesting puzzles and well executed dialogues but unfortunately, it must be said that performance problems and mostly, an unintuitive and constricting gameplay end up harming the experience and many players will feel like there are very few incentives to invest time and energy into this work.

Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers can be a confusing game for fans of JRPGs. If the game has some good intentions, it ends up squandering them with its poor visuals and plot, and overload of guides and aids. While the younger target audience might enjoy it, this is not a recommended title for those taking their first steps in the JRPG genre.
