She Remembered Caterpillars is a beautifully hand-drawn puzzle game with surreal art, a mesmerizing soundtrack and an interesting story. While there isn't much variation from the core gameplay, it still offers a rewarding and introspective experience.
Offering the perfect balance of comfy fun, Dragon Quest Builders allows you to kick back on your couch and get creative!
MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies is a highly entertaining entry into the Neptunia series, with a fresh combat system and a hilarious premise it's a must play!
While the 3DS version adds worthwhile content and I hold Dragon Quest 8 near my heart, it's not without its faults.
While Criminal Girls has been heavily censored, it's an enjoyable JRPG experience that's more than just fanservice.
Overall I had a positive experience with Disgaea 2 PC and it feels great being able to play the series on Steam. If you can make it past the clunky interface and bugs, then you're in for a real treat.
Fate/Extella is brilliant and graphically quite good, considering it was developed for the Vita as well as the Playstation 4. Extella really brings forth the magic of the animated series, and it seems the Musou genre was a nice fit for Fate. I would love to see more games in the series done in this style. Extella's only real problems are an uninteresting soundtrack and lack of variety in the stages and mission objectives. Fate/Extella as a whole is a fun experience that I would gladly recommend to any fan of the Musou genre or the Fate series.
Project Highrise is a skyscraper management sim à la Sim Tower. A genre that hasn't been touched upon since 1998, when Yoot Tower last released. Project Highrise aims to bring that experience to the modern age, and I must say they did an incredible job on it.
Detention brings something unique and new to the table, offering a very surreal tale of life and loss through the eyes of someone living in a very real time period. With a beautiful visual style and fantastic sound design, it's quickly become one of my most memorable experiences in the last few years.
Star Wars Pinball: Rogue One offers a great amount of fun for new and veteran players alike. Easy to pick up for anyone, but requires mastery to enjoy all the hidden goodness found in the game.
Visually breathtaking, Alwa's Awakening is a phenomenal feat for such a small team of developers. If the gameplay had been given as much attention as the art and sound, we could have had an instant classic.
Rosenkreuzstilette is an ode to the Blue Bomber. With an anime aesthetic and girls instead of robots, it offers its own unique take on action platforming. While the controls could have been handled better, I have almost nothing negative to say about my experience with the game and wholeheartedly recommend it. Go listen to the OST while you're at it!
With plenty of exploration and a strong feeling of isolation, Forma.8 offers a different take on the Metroidvania formula. This is definitely a comfy game. It's perfect for sitting back on your couch, turning off your lights, and exploring the unique world it offers.
Rise & Shine aspires to be like the NES classics it's inspired by, but ultimately falls flat with a short campaign and uneccessary difficulty padding. While the visuals are jaw-droppingly gorgeous, it doesn't make up for the overall lackluster package.
Encapsulating the essence of the Hidden Object books of yesteryear, Hidden Folks offers a breath of fresh air with its unique visual style and humorous sound effects.
Building upon the original release, Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force includes new characters, combat and endings. While there are some typical anime tropes and cliches, you'll find a great cast of characters who offer witty banter on a lighthearted journey.
Nothing really stood out to me while playing Riptide GP: Renegade and it left me with a very “average” feeling. The most fun I had with it was kicking back and doing some races against friends with the local play option.
Hollow Knight set the bar in terms of visual fidelity and craftsmanship in what an indie game can achieve with the proper allocation of time and attention to detail. With playtime taking anywhere between 20 to 40 hours to complete and dozens of more hours to attain 100% completion on top of an added difficulty mode, Hollow Knight is an absolutely breathtaking feat and Team Cherry has earned my dearest devotion.
Flywrench is a fun, quick distraction that can easily pull you in with its entertaining game play, and though it can become quite difficult at times, it’s easy to get past all that.
At the end of the day Dragon Ball Fusions is a fun little game, although its likely to get more mileage out of Dragon Ball fans than anyone else. I found myself “fused” to my 3ds for the whole 50 or so hours I played before setting it down.
