GameOctane's Reviews
Overall, Bomber Crew is an awesome game. While the graphics aren't exactly the best and the gameplay can get repetitive and boring, it's still a good game to walk away from and come back to again after some time. The customization in the game is pretty advanced giving players all kinds of options and setups to go with for varying situations.
For younger gamers, Ark Park is a nice explorative VR game. There are many dinosaurs to see and breed for your park. For older gamers, the game is lacking in things to do and is not as immersive as I would like.
The potential is there. The action, especially against the giant Ravenii, can be pretty fun. However, the repetition and bland environments take away the potential enjoyment of Extinction.
DotEmu dominates another rebirth. Ys Origin for the Xbox One, adds some new features, most notably the speedrun option. That may not be enough to pull a gamer to purchase it again from PS4 or Steam, but new players will be in for a treat at the $19.99 price!
Wild Guns Reloaded is a great pickup if you enjoy the original game. If you have never played, then it can be a frustrating experience, especially on single player. The new characters and stages are fun, but the game gets repetitive pretty quickly. It can be an enjoyable co-op experience if you don't mind the repetitive gameplay aspects.
Murderous Pursuits is a lot of fun to play. It's challenging, yet fair. With the different abilities, areas to hide, and compass, everyone has an equal chance to survive and win. With regular content updates, Murderous Pursuits can become a powerhouse in the cat and mouse gaming genre.
Above all else, Forgotton Anne is a wonderful game that is more focused on the story than groundbreaking gameplay. And in this case, I am perfectly fine with that. The story does have some twists and turns that you might see coming, yet your decision making makes these story aspects intriguing and emotional.
Raging Justice is a blast from the past. It's very entertaining and fun to play with friends. It only takes about an hour or two to beat, depending on the difficulty level. The number of enemies to conquer in single player can be overwhelming and frustrating. But if you are a fan of the genre, then I definitely think you should try it out.
Ash of Gods: Redemption is an amazing game. The dark and gritty fantasy theme and it's disheartening story is actually refreshing and breaks the mold for turn-based RPGs. It's a game I never knew I needed to play in 2018.
Umiro at a price point of $2.99 on PC and mobile is a fun puzzle game. The story is intriguing and spikes curiosity. The puzzles are challenging and sometimes frustrating but the story peaks enough interest to continue solving them.
State of Decay 2 is impressive in its scope and amount of content. You will spend hours upon hours building your communities. The graphics could use some more polish and the game is very difficult when playing by yourself. But despite these setbacks, State of Decay 2 is fantastic survival simulator that recognizes the amount of work that needs to go into surviving in a post-apocalyptic world.
The Thin Silence is a dark story which will intrigue you, pull you in, rough up some emotions, and spit you back out...in a good way. Though it may not be for everyone, gamers that enjoy stories over action should enjoy The Thin Silence.
Yoku's Island Express surprised me from start to finish. It has taken the core pinball mechanics and blended it with a wonderful story, memorable characters, and natural progression system that you would see in a platforming game. The mechanics work exceptionally well, and it is a joy to play from start to finish. If you love pinball and want to see it in a refreshing way, then you owe it to yourself to check out Yoku's Island Express.
Milanoir has a surprisingly awesome gritty story with some slick story cutscenes you play through. The action will kick your teeth in and can be slightly frustrating at times but it's over the top action will satisfy your action movie craving and not leave your wallet swimming with the fishes.
Moonlighter does a lot of things right, but you repeat each one consistently. Dungeon crawling to find loot to sell is a nice little twist to a typical roguelite game. The combat is a bit challenging, and upgrades are necessary to find items for your shop. Despite the repetition, Moonlighter is an entertaining game for those who love looting and price haggling.
The world of Battletech drew me into this game, and the combat, while not well explained, kept me trying over and over again to tackle missions that kept pushing back on my less-than-amazing brute force tactics. A must play for any tactical or strategic minded player.
A good throwback and tribute to games like Smash TV. The controls could use a little bit of improvement and be prepared to grind for any upgrades.
At its heart, Shape of the World is an exploration game that will let you leisurely explore a colorful world with rich visuals. But that's about it. It is definitely not my type of game, but it may be for you. I suggest looking for a demo so you can give it a try.
Songbringer is fun and challenging. Unfortunately, the lack of a pulling force, supporting characters, more lore, something to that effect, will not grab every gamer. Songbringer is definitely worth checking out though if you have the slightest bit of interest, at $19.99 you'll get hours of fun.
Oh My Godheads falls on its abnormally large face when it comes to being a complete packaged game. The game is lacking in single player features and content to keep you coming back for more. Though get a few buddies together and you could be in for a fun night of cough co-op gaming.
