Horizon: Forbidden West is a gorgeous and highly polished experience that takes full advantage of the Playstation 5's superior hardware. And while a dream come true for explorers, the sub-par story just prevents it from being a true masterpiece. Recommended for fans of the genre.

Expeditions: Rome is a fun and challenging RPG that requires closer attention. It brings back fond memories of the impactful choices made back in the days of classic RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment. Moreover, the developers have made turn-based combat cohesively nuanced and challenging at the same time. With over 65 hours of content, Expeditions: Rome is worth getting into.

Death's Gambit is a game where developer passion shines through. The free expansion, Afterlife, revamps the game with excellent additions and provides a decent amount of content for the base game's asking price. While not the best Metroidvania you'll ever play, it's one that should certainly have a place on your list.

Tales of Arise combines a stunning world told with a mix of anime, cutscenes and comic strip styled conversations. The combat is fun, flashy with customisable skills in hack 'n' slash style. While the combat can feel a little unnatural with the auto-targeting and airborne moves, once you get used to it, there are some fun fights ahead. If you don't like having to choose between ranged, casting, melee in games, you won't have to worry as Tales of Arise let's you swap in different characters as you wish, keeping combat fresh. With over 40 hours of main story, side quests and exploring , this Tales entry has plenty in terms of content.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is a massive accomplishment in the CRPG space. The game has a lot of improvements when it comes to systems and mechanics, making it more accessible to new players and veterans alike while managing to deliver new and interesting content. If you've been meaning to dive into the immersive world of the Pathfinder Series, you certainly won't be disappointed with WotR.

Unscored - Mortal Shell
Aug 19, 2021

I’ll tell you from playing The Virtuous Cycle I haven’t played Mortal Shell in many many months as we know it came out a year ago at this point, I forgot how good this game is, it’s such a great game. There’s a little bit of jank in it because it’s made by you know a handful of people, but honestly it’s just so much fun and I highly recommend checking out the DLC if you have a minute.

While the Fire & Darkness DLC includes a new chapter to the Godfall Story that can be enjoyed by yourself, the Lightbringer Update takes multiplayer to a whole new level by including a Matchmaking System, a new endgame mode and a good amount Skins, allowing you to save the realm with other players while you fight together and make new friends. No matter if you are a newcomer or a returning player, I would definitively suggest that you give the Lightbringer Mode a chance in multiplayer mode.

9 / 10 - The Ascent
Jul 29, 2021

While The Ascent is not going to be the next Diablo nor Path of Exile, it manages to craft an immersive and distinct experience, one that has familiar gameplay, yet a unique design. Whether your exploring Veles alone or with some friends, you won't want to miss out on this one!

Tribes of Midgard is a jack-of-all-trades that combines the best mechanics of popular titles like Don't Starve Together, Hades and Diablo, and mashes it all together to create a magically charming yet chaotic world. Your efforts to save the Seed of Yggdrasil from destruction won't be in vain and are in fact rewarded, which lets you start better sessions in your next runs. With numerous hours at your disposal, you wouldn't want to sleep on this one.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a solid turn-based monster collector that still manages to feel like a Monster Hunter game. If you're a fan of games like Pokemon Sword and Shield, or you just can't get enough Monster Hunter, you'll definitely want to check out this game.

Though nothing like the original Dark Alliance games, this new iteration does just enough to warrant the attention of those who enjoy a co-operative dungeon crawling experience. And while I recommend waiting for a sale if you intend to play solo, the inclusion of matchmaking should allow just about anyone to find other players to party up with easily, which really feels like what this game was made for.

If you are a fan of action games, have enjoyed the challenge of Souls games and wished Sekiro was a bit more action-oriented, Ninja Gaiden Master Collection is probably the place you should be looking for your next fix.

Blackwood provides content for those looking for some Oblivion nostalgia but also a new experience when it comes to Oblivion Portals and its tale. While not perfect, Companions shake up combat adding a new way to play solo, but does not do away with the multiplayer aspect of the game. The chapter has a great story to experience with some returning characters that players will be happy to see. If you're a fan of the Elder Scrolls games and looking for a new adventure that ties in with Oblivion, you'll want to pick up this one.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister is filled with engaging and immersive adventures that are bound to keep you up all night. Whether you're new to D&D 5E or not, you'll want to immediately get your hands on this one. It is hands down one of the most faithful D&D adaptations out there, and one that will surely continue to endure in the years to come. For 39.99, it's hard to ask for much more.

7 / 10 - BIOMUTANT
May 24, 2021

Biomutant is an original and creative new IP with great ideas made with love, but on a budget. Charming as it might be, lackluster rpg options, repetitive combat and by-the-numbers gameplay pair up with small but tedious bugs that detract from the overall experience. A game that will shine for kids or teens, unfortunately falls short of its price tag for adults, who may want to wait for a sale.

I would have liked to have seen this remastered, or this re-release turned into a remaster or a remake. I mean I feel like it’s an old enough classic that could have gotten better treatment. It still looks pretty nice but they could have done a lot of quality of life improvements to the game.

If you are a big fan of this series, I was getting goosebumps watching the opening cutscene. It was that good, literal goosebumps. If you are a fan of this series, you are going to love this game and if you are new to this franchise it is probably good enough Mass Effect 1 to get you through Mass Effect 2 and 3 with very little complaints.

9 / 10 - Returnal
Apr 29, 2021

A sleeper hit, Returnal is bound to captivate you from start to finish, no pun intended. If you are a fan of good Sci-fi in the vein of The Expanse, Stranger Things, or Mass Effect, you surely won't want to miss this game. Returnal is the early front runner for Game of the Year 2021, making a compelling case to get a Playstation 5...if you can find one.

Nier Replicant is an endearing, comfortably predictable story that turns out to be nothing of the sort. Relaxing afternoons fishing or cultivating and action-packed dungeons coexist to deliver an ingeniously conceived narrative that will stay with you for years to come, as you try and fail to stop humming the fantastic soundtrack.

Monster Hunter Rise is an excellent entry into the series that enhances RPG and combat mechanics while also keeping the game accessible to newcomers. A fun, addictive and satisfying experience for the old school and uninitiated alike, MHR will likely be the best game out on Switch all year.
