7.8 / 10.0 - AEW: Fight Forever
Jun 28, 2023

AEW: Fight Forever effectively takes after its parent company AEW in that it’s young but with a rich pool of potential, of which many are anticipating great things in the future. While it certainly impresses in its first outing, the game somewhat struggles to find its third and fourth gear late in the game.

Strictly speaking, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a solid game. The arcade focus produces replayability as players return to unlock ongoing content. If you enjoyed WWE All-Stars, I do not see you would not enjoy WWE 2K Battlegrounds.

7.5 / 10.0 - Old Time Hockey

It has the recipe for success in the indie sports market, and could become one of the hits of 2017.

7.5 / 10.0 - NASCAR Heat 2
Sep 14, 2017

It's just disappointing that career mode feels more like a chore rather than a fun experience where you can "live the life" of a racer trying to move up the ranks. Thankfully other modes like Challenges and Multiplayer keep the fun coming in a game that, in spite of its on-track shortcomings, represents solid progress for the series.

7.5 / 10.0 - NHL 18
Sep 13, 2017

NHL 18 isn't a bad game by any means. EASHL, Ultimate Team, Franchise, and Threes all provide players with modes worth replaying. The problem is that there's nothing that really makes it considerably better than last year's installment. If you're hoping that the game provides a major step forward for the series, you're going to be disappointed. It's still fun to play, but with an old engine, a dry presentation and no major improvements, NHL 18 is teetering on the line of becoming a stale experience.

7.5 / 10.0 - NBA Live 18
Sep 15, 2017

Some questionable physics and occasionally poor animations also hinder what is overall an impressive leap ahead for EA and its basketball series. While it's not gonna take over the competition, the game has its own strengths in which to build. NBA Live 18 has finally become a worthy option for those looking for a change of pace.

7.5 / 10.0 - Madden NFL 19
Aug 7, 2018

In the end, Madden's pride and joy, Ultimate Team, has received the most impactful upgrades while the franchise mode fanbase will still feel as if Madden is still a solid two or three steps behind as they look over at other sports franchise modes.

7.5 / 10.0 - FIFA 20
Sep 23, 2019

FIFA 20 does enough to improve FIFA’s overall outlook and bring some players back who were driven away by boredom, but it would be unjustified to call it one of the series’ very best installments.

7.5 / 10.0 - NBA 2K21
Sep 9, 2020

While the demo lowered my expectations, admittedly because of the copy and paste presentation, 2K21 is enough of a change from 2K20 to stand on it’s own.

7.5 / 10.0 - FIFA 21

Enough has been done to keep players interested until the next-gen consoles arrive, but unless you’ve skipped the last couple releases, there’s nothing that screams must-buy this year.

7.5 / 10.0 - DiRT 5
Nov 6, 2020

Dirt 5 is a fun game no matter what type of racing you’re into. Even though it leans more to the arcade side of things, there’s enough here that should keep all race fans entertained for a while.

Big Bang Pro Wrestling is a simple retro 16-bit game that will frustrate modern players. However, a very tiny screen and a grappling system that can leave you wondering how to possibly win matches are only minor complaints. And with a price tag of 7.99 USD, there is hardly any risk of buying this piece of video game history.

7.5 / 10.0 - PGA Tour 2K23

Though the game lacks a lot of visual and presentational flare that 2K clearly does with its other sports games, PGA Tour 2K23 challenges you to use imagination to get up and down its gorgeous golf courses.

7.5 / 10.0 - Turbo Golf Racing
Apr 10, 2024

Turbo Golf Racing is fun, and if you’re familiar with Rocket League, you’ll feel right at home. But after a while, it gets repetitive; the game only holds my attention for a few games, and I don’t think playing with my friends will change that.

It’s an arcade game made to be accessible to anyone, wrestling fan or not. This is evident in its design and stylization. The lack of game modes may be a detriment for many and really hurts the longevity of such a game, but the controls are solid and the game runs beautifully. There’s not much more one can ask for in an arcade experience.

7.2 / 10.0 - Handball 21
Nov 14, 2020

Handball 21 presents as a solid official handball game. While the passion behind the design is evident, I must say it still has lots of room for overall improvement. The lack of depth in the game modes can wait an iteration or two in my opinion, that is so long as the gameplay improves with each entry. As it is stands, it is not bad but it can certainly be better.
