Dynasty Warriors 9 is a bold but utterly fruitless attempt to revitalize a series that is stuck in its ways, showcasing an open-world that is completely at odds with itself, overwhelming technical issues and diabolical voice-over work.

Yawn-inducing combat and pacing as stale as a week-old scab leave little to be desired in Vampyr for all but the most die-hard vampire enthusiasts, who might still just be better off sinking their teeth into something with more substance.

Summary The Deer God seems to be content with being below average and makes no effort to convince you it’s worth any of your time.

Soul-less in Seoul, Agents of Mayhem tries to break away from Saints Row and in doing so, loses a lot of Volition's hallmark charm. If you can look past an insignificant narrative, constant monotony and writing that lacks tact, you might be in for some dumb fun.

An original, yet conceptually flawed puzzler means that Human: Fall Flat, falls a bit, well, flat. However, the local co-op enabled by the Switch means that this is a worthwhile game to play through with a friend (just be sure to buy an extra controller!)

69% - High Hell
Oct 22, 2017

High Hell is a high-octane shooter from the minds behind Heavy Bullets and Enter the Gungeon. Whilst not the most ground-breaking puzzle shooter on offer today, it spins an absurd web and has a satisfying gameplay loop from level to level.

Ultra Street Fighter 2 is a fun title which is a testament to the quality of the original title, however the extra content on offer and the horrendous Way of The Hado mode do little to justify an eighth iteration in the SF2 series and falls woefully short of it's £35 price tag.

This casual Sim-like game is less of a Drag than you might think. It's got a tongue-in-cheek humour, that fits the game style well. It can be sickeningly sweet too, but unfortunately this taste gets repetitive on extended play sessions. Pick this title up on Android or iOS for the best way to play - in short bursts.

Sea of Thieves is the perfect framing device for nautical adventure that rewards a committed group of young-at-heart, social pirates to find and evoke the fun from its sandbox. Unfortunately, that gorgeous world has questionable systems and content limits that (if not dealt with) scupper its incredible potential and give it a worrying sell-by-date.

A great diversion whenever you've got half an hour to kill, First Strike: Final Hour is never going to make you sweat, but it will make you grin (albeit sadistically).

Stealth fans, ignore everything you've read here and buy this game - this one was made for you from the ground up. For everyone else, ask yourself what you liked about other more stealth-lite games you might have played. If it wasn't studying patrol routes for minutes at a time, give this a miss.

Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles boasts an impressive colour scheme to compliment a vibrant and diverse world. Filled from end to end with gorgeous views adorable creatures and a plethora of hidden secrets, its certainly got its moments. A lack of diversity within quests and a fairly average narrative are its only real downfalls.
