Fans of the anime will be overjoyed by the sheer amount of playable characters, both hero and monster favourites from the first season are here.
The Turing Test is a short but ultimately memorable experience.
If you're a fan of the Terminator movies, there is some appeal here, even if only a little. There are even a few nods to moments from the films - like the lorry from the chase in Terminator 2 - and the mid 80s / early 90s version of future tech that appears adds to the nostalgia boost. Despite the different endings you can unlock, it's unlikely that you'll go back and replay it unless you really loved the experience.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare makes some bold choices in its overarching narrative but they're not always for the best. It's a game at its best when it's doing the least.
But, it is the very definition of generic, with the tired, Fast and Furious lite, underground street racer motif we've seen dozens of times before. Heat fails to stand out from similar franchises, and joins the ranks of the more forgettable Need for Speed entries. There's some measure of fun to be had here, but it's clear that the series needs a shot of nitrous in the tank if it wants to stay relevant.
Tokyo 2020 is great if you have some friends around and serves as an enjoyable party game due to its pick up and play nature, although the lack or rounds or a tournament mode is noticeable especially with some events being over very quickly.
The game can feel laborious at times with the hunt for items having no direction but the games music and relaxed nature made this a great experience for the explorers.
The foundations of Breakpoint are sound, and hopefully with a little love and a lot of patches, this could become a fantastic shooter.
Daemon X Machina won’t be for everyone, and it feels a cop-out to say “fans of the genre” will enjoy it. With that said, if you’ve been longing for something fresh in the under-represented giant robots side of things, its suite of hulking mechanical monstrosities and the ways they make things explode give the Switch yet another shot in the arm.
Youngblood just cannot hope to fill the power armour clad boots of New Colossus. It's a good shooter and great co-op game but don’t expect much more than a run and gun.
For series veterans, there's not a huge improvement over the original, but if you like snazzier graphics this may well give you a reason to give SE V2 another blast, if only to tide you over for the many months until Sniper Elite 5 is released.
This Diablo-like dungeon crawler is a fundamentally fun experience but lacks some polish in spots
The games progression loop feels wonderful and the simple art style is great, but there is only so long before your interest will probably start to wane. Once you get to wave 400 to 600 you are well kitted out and almost invincible. Without a genuine real player vs player mode the other two modes feel a little empty and pointless, but could have real potential if you could play it with others. There are also few bugs and strange issues from being a port, but overall Grave Keeper is fun and entertaining.
Overall, Assassin's Creed III Remastered is a bunch of fun and worth picking up thanks to the variety of content, but it is not without its issues.
The combat is solid, the game looks great and Rage 2 has enough polish it shines like brand new minted Ranger armour, but the plot is pretty disappointing and nothing we haven’t really seen before.
If you are a diehard Mortal Kombat fan and you must own this game just for the story and local competitive play then this review isn’t going to stop you from purchasing it. But until NetherRealm fixes its issues with connectivity and offers an experience that is friendly for consumers you are better off waiting for it to lower in price.
Phoenix Wright's first three adventures return in HD and on multiple platforms, prettier but not better than ever
As it stands, Anthem needs some work done to it if we want to see its full glory.
While it’s not groundbreaking like Super Mario Odyssey, New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe is still a really solid, addicting platformer with plenty of fun to be had, especially when playing it with friends.
It's a step in the right direction after Dynasty Warriors 9, but still needs a lot of work to match up to some of the other great titles in the series.
