The Escapist 2 mainly focuses itself on improving the series’ combat, giving more elaborate ways to escape and new items to mess and experiment with; it definitely feels as if The Escapist 2 is about refining the original formula and improving certain aspects to create a game that forces you to think strategically and outside of the box, acting very much more like “The Escapist 1.5” – That’s not a bad thing, however – If you want to feel as if you are part of the great escape or simply want to experience a truly challenging game with a twist, then this is the game for you.

8 / 10 - Yakuza Kiwami
Aug 20, 2017

Yakuza Kiwami has been another great addition to a series with nothing but great games. While I would say that its high notes aren’t as good as Yakuza 0’s, this can be excused for the most part as it technically is the first game of the series. Either way this game will please fans new and old so don’t miss out on it!

8 / 10 - Ruiner

At the end of the day you have an exciting cyberpunk experience with a beautiful atmosphere and soundtrack. You likely wont be picking this up for the best narrative of the year, and find most of the enjoyment in taking down fools while improving your skills. Overall I had a lot of fun playing this game, getting around 5 hours out of it. While I do wish there was more to do and ways to make a second round more appealing, I did enjoy going through it.

At £15.00, this is a game well worth your time if you plan on having some friends round for an afternoon – Combine with a few drinks and an extra-large pizza and you’ve got yourself a perfectly chilled-out Friday night game. Highly recommended.

Overall Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an exciting and gorgeous romp through a lovingly crafted world that will never be the same twice. I honestly think every fantasy fan should give it a go and just see where your adventure takes you!

I think in the end Yakuza 6 just did a really good job at concluding the story of Kazuma Kiryu. The new risks it takes with the Dragon Engine are totally in the favor of narrative while gameplay is just kinda pushed to the side. The narrative alone was enough to keep me invested though and I think that says a lot about how good the story and characters are. This is coming from a person who’s favorite games are mainly gameplay heavy, so although the gameplay is not that great in the end, the overall experience was a fun and memorable one.

All things considered, I am having a lot of fun with Ni No Kuni 2 – Its world is colourful, bustling and interesting, its characters engaging and exciting, and the stories of each country hook onto you and drag you in for just a few more hours. I don’t know how the game will conclude at this point, but I dearly do hope that it doesn’t abandon the darker roots of its opening, and explore more of Evan’s struggles.

.hack://gu is a great JRPG series with a lot to love for any fan of the genre, whilst the game does fit in after the original .hack series, it is not a necessity for one to have played all four of the original games but it certainly helps… If you can afford it. WHY Bamco decided to do these 4 as the first bunch of remasters is beyond me because it would have made a lot more sense to do the far superior games first helping people to get more out of “The World”.

The game is really short which can be a huge detriment, because I really could sink hundreds of hours into this type of game, but it does have some challenge modes and even an extra character that you can play around with that certainly help with the longevity of the game. With all that being said, I can say that this game is easily one of my favourite titles on the Switch, and I feel you’ll be doing yourself a disservice if this isn’t in your library. Here’s hoping to some new content soon!

So overall I’d say the this collection did an amazing job at bringing arcade perfect ports to the latest console generation as well as preserving some amazing history through the design docs, art work etc. The main issue being the online is a little wonky right now can hopefully be fixed. If that happens we have a really special collection, which I’ll be playing for hours on end regardless.

Overall, Jurassic World: Evolution is a pretty neat game, marred by a few bad design decisions. Although not the deepest park simulator out there, building your own Jurassic Park is too good of a temptation to pass up, and as more content is added over time, the experience is likely to improve more and more. Certainly a fun way to waste a few hours here and there.

8 / 10 - Vampyr
Jun 3, 2018

Vampyr is a game marred by a mediocre combat system, but you know what? I don’t care – It’s the first game in a long time that made me think Vampires are cool again, with an incredibly interesting story that has me unable to stop thinking about what’s happening next.

7.9 / 10.0 - No Man's Sky - NEXT
Aug 18, 2018

Overall this game to this day is still throwing curve balls at my opinions, and I’ve only just scratched the surface of this update. The whole experience as a whole has been a blast and I cannot wait to get back onto No Man’s Sky and experience more of what this update has in store… Saying this, there are still many updates that will be needed to form No Man’s Sky into the game we were originally promised, but, for now, this is the perfect time to hop on back and start a new journey as a Wanderer, finding the center of the universe and all it’s mysteries.

It’s a really great monster capture game with fun combat and a lot of reason to grind and level up your Digimon. The story line is enjoyable enough and gives you a good reason to play the game through.

All-in-all, Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness is a well-crafted, dark, gritty and edgy, detailed visual novel that I would happily play through a couple of times whenever I get bored of other visual novels such as Phoenix Wright or Danganronpa. The visuals are crisp and clean, voice acting (Whilst only in Japanese) is still top-notch, and the plot is tense and thrilling. My only concern is that I fear it will stumble near the end.

It’s an easy to play game that you can almost have on in the background; you don’t need to be prepared for an epic play session or to use your brain too much to play this game… The story is very enjoyable without having to think too much about it and this has been a good game for me to put on for a few hours between each Kingdom Hearts session. I just wish it had an extra layer of polish and it would’ve sealed the deal for me.

You can see a lot of work has gone into Blossom Tales and the characters and pixels will take you back in time for a fun time. It teaches that you shouldn't judge every SNES looking game as a Zelda rip off and appreciate everything for what it likes to do differently. A fun adventure that I thoroughly enjoyed to listen and play through.

7.5 / 10.0 - Call of Duty: WWII
Nov 14, 2017

All in all I would say WWII is a pretty good addition to the CoD series, it’s not as good as Black Ops 3’s multiplayer but it makes up for it with one crazy fun Zombies map. I just pray this game doesn’t meet the same fate as previous games and it stays fair and fun until the next instalment.

If I had to describe Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in a nutshell, it would be "A flawed diamond", beautiful by nature and at it's core, but extremely flawed on the offset, which makes criticizing this title all the more painful; I want the Xenoblade franchise to succeed and improve, and to swell into a beautiful, wonderful franchise, however after seeing the top-notch Xenoblade Chronicles and well-performing spin-off that was Xenoblade Chronicles X, I feel that Xenoblade Chronicles 2, as a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles and on it's own merit just gets outshone by it's precursors. I would definitely recommend this title on the Nintendo Switch – It'll certainly keep you busy, but wether you'll enjoy every last second of it is a totally different, and personal story.
