Switch Player's Reviews

Skee-Ball seems more than happy to resemble an early-2000’s flash game instead of a unique take on the arcade classic that it represents.

Woodle Tree Adventures is a mess – an altogether stress-inducing experience that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. I only hope the sequel proves to be a better experience.

If you're after a strong example of a 2D platformer with depth and challenge, you won't find it here. The Deer God may look pretty, but it's a pitiful experience that deserves no place on the Switch eShop.

Super Ping Pong Trick Shot is a game you probably wouldn't even buy on a mobile device to waste a bit of time, let alone a dedicated gaming system. It's cheap, but so are some other eShop titles and your money is better spent elsewhere.

A shallow attempt at a management simulator that looks promising, but rewards your patience with an empty world, a lack of features that would make the game fun and a completely joyless cast of characters. Avoid!

Slaps and Beans is a game that shows that living in the past isn’t always a good thing. Only those who love their fighting games will see something good in this game.

The most amazing thing about Vroom in the Night Sky is that it was actually greenlit at all. It's ludicrous that someone at Nintendo thought it would be a good title for the launch line up over some more notable games. You have to wonder if they played it at all. Because it's simply not good.

YouTubers Life: OMG Edition isn’t necessarily a bad game, but it’s an awful port for Nintendo’s finest. Considering mobile iterations also exist, it’s bizarre that touchscreen inputs are nowhere to be found. Whilst that certainly wouldn’t be the saving grace, it would certainly alleviate some of the many control issues found throughout. A unique take on the sim genre, one that’s unfortunately hampered by technical woes that almost make this unplayable. Almost.

Akihabara completely lacks any personality, and only should be bought if you’re a fan of everything Japanese or Tetris.

Although not original when it comes to the use the rogue-like template, Tallowmere could have taken form as an enjoyable 2D platform game if it wasn’t for its messy layout choices and poor art style.

Rock 'n Racing Off Road DX is perhaps the poorest racing game on the Switch at the moment. It has too many design flaws and its AI is too broken to find any enjoyment within its simplistic game design.

1.8 / 5.0 - Revenant Saga
Oct 26, 2017

Revenant Saga contains a worthwhile story premise that tragically gets lost in the midst of an altogether poor experience. JRPG fans may find some enjoyment in the combat mechanics, but for everyone else, not even its reasonable price should tempt you into this.

1.9 / 5.0 - Wheels Of Aurelia
Nov 7, 2017

Wheels of Aurelia is a disappointing attempt at bringing the Visual Novel genre to the Switch, it's too short to be engaging, and at its current price tag seems a bit too steep.

Though the content and concept of My Time at Portia is sublime, having the potential to enslave your attention for months to come, the Switch port lacks the polish and love it so desperately deserves. Should quality of life fixes be implemented, this will certainly be worth sinking your time into. For now, not so much.

Glaive: Brick Breaker appears to be a game that exists just to pay homage to its inspiration, Brick Breaker. It never tries to be much more than that, and is content wallowing in mediocrity.

Yodanji manages to take Japanese Folklore monsters and turn them into a dull turn-based rogue-like. The random nature of the game completely undermines any interesting ideas and, unfortunately, the whole experience ends up falling a little flat as a result.

While Maria the Witch seems slightly more complicated than your typical game, a better button outlay may have made it a lot less frustrating. I just wanted to be in control, or to feel in control, of Maria far more than I did. Now to go and lie down before I have nightmares of flying my broomstick into yet another wall...

Caveman Warriors has too many problems to make it fun. If you're playing in 4 player co-op it might be entertaining, but in Single Player mode it's far too dull to be enjoyable. Maybe it should've stayed in the Stone Age?

It's another rushed effort from 2K Games which botches the launch of an eagerly anticipated title. It's so frustrating because WWE 2K18 is packed with content and could have been truly special, if a little more care had been applied. Maybe a patch can salvage this release but for now you want to avoid it.

Cartoon Network Battle Crashers is so clearly aimed at young kids and the gameplay on offer here is fine for that audience but, on the whole, this is a dull brawler with little to offer. If you have no idea who Clarence is then you're probably better off looking elsewhere.
