5 / 5.0 - Persona 5 Royal
Mar 18, 2020

Persona 5 Royal takes the original to the next level. Between a robust story, tons of content and plenty of character development, there is more than enough content to keep you busy. Returning fans might not see a ton of differences, but the quality of life changes and enhancements will make it interesting enough to warrant a revisit. However, newcomers have no reason to not buy since it's the definitive version that is worth every penny.

Just Push Start
Mark Fajardo

Typically when a definitive edition releases there is a certain sense of disappointment. Either it provides a better value, through included DLC, or small touches that add a lot. But, when it comes to Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition, there is enough there to make most people happy. The 2D mode will appeal to returning fans and those who grew up with the franchise, with new stories and more to add to the already compelling adventure. Quicker battles and commands streamline the core experience to make it easier to complete what needs to be done. This also applies to crafting and other mechanics too. Honestly, in general, Square Enix took an already good base, thought of a welcome way to add content without making fans feel like they missed out, and addressed some concerns to make for a compelling experience. So, whether you loved the original release or are waiting to see what Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition offers, it's an experience everyone should strongly consider.

9.8 / 10.0 - Control
Aug 26, 2019

One of the struggles with Control is how to rate it. As amazing that so much of the experience is, more intense fights result in performance issues. And I had more issues figuring out where to go than people did with The Surge, yet I still walked away amazed. Having done hundreds of these reviews for Just Push Start, this is easily one of my favorite experiences and one I still strongly suggest to anyone looking for a unique experience or seeing just how interesting a shooter can be. Sure, it’s not perfect and it absolutely won’t appeal to everyone, but I wouldn’t let these things stop you if you’re remotely interested in what you saw going into Control.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of Elusive Age is without question the definitive experience. The new content gives returning players something to do, with an overwhelming amount of things to do that just makes sense on a portable platform. Similar to the original release, this is a must-have for any JRPG fan and easily one of the best games currently available on the Nintendo Switch.

Given Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has tons of characters, too many options and an unrealistic amount of things to discover, it's hard to touch on everything. What truly matters isn't what is possible, as much as, Super Smash Bros. Ultimateis basically what you make of it. Characters can be given a positive or negative handicap, items can be enabled or disabled, various modes and conditions can be set and it can be made so pretty much anyone can have fun. And, in the end, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate isn't about balance, modes or honestly even the complex meta game, it's being a game that pretty much anyone can win and have fun with and is more than certainly achieves that and so much more.

4.8 / 5.0 - Forza Horizon 4
Oct 23, 2018

Forza Horizon 4 is the racing game aficionados have been waiting for. Not only does it have a staggering amount of content, it feels like every car and track are genuinely different. Between the wide variety of cars, nearly endless amount of events and more, there is more than enough to do. While it might not be the perfect game, it's certainly polished, fun and simply amazing to look at. Needless to say, it's a masterpiece for racing games on Microsoft platforms.

Between the story quests and the easy to acquire side objectives there is plenty of hours available for gamers to get their teeth into. Something that is surely only going to rocket upwards once the Online element arrives. Even without that, and the slight issues, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game worth playing. For the sense of being that outlaw character, riding around the stunning map and having choice of what to do, this is a worthy sequel. You will spend a lot of time going from A to B, even doing little tasks, but these are easy compromises to make for the full Western experience.

Much like the first game, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is easily one of the best games out in 2018 and a strong contender for Game of the Year. Not only is it an improvement over the predecessor, it stands out among other recent JRPGs. From an amazing and intriguing coming-of-age story, to a battle system that is simple and fun, giving players plenty to experience. In so many ways Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is a must for fans and newcomers alike.

9.5 / 10.0 - Marvel's Spider-Man
Sep 4, 2018

Marvel’s Spider-Man isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t stop it from being a fantastic experience. The story takes a while to get going but the end is more than worth the wait. Add in a fun, fluid and flashy combat system and it makes for a delightful journey. Sure, at times it drags, like during the forced stealth sections, but these are not enough to ruin the experience. Between all these things, fantastic graphics, a good selection of costumes and more, I can not suggest Marvel’s Spider-Man enough. Even if you’re like me and not the biggest Spider-Man fan, it’s a good enough experience to make it worth your time.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is a phenomenal game that JRPG fans will want to play. The brief break gave Dragon Quest XI a chance to improve a number of things and that certainly paid off. The storyline is interesting and engaging, something that will suck players in and hold their attention until the very end. And, outside of the main story, there is a wide variety of things for players to do. Needless to say, if you feel like recent JRPGs have been lacking, then you'll probably enjoy Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

4.8 / 5.0 - Two Point Hospital
Sep 1, 2018

Two Point Hospital nails so many aspects that it makes it easy to call it a worthy spiritual successor of Theme Hospital. There's no doubt that gamers will be sinking hours into the title, with there always being one more challenge to complete and another issue that needs solving. Patients and staff aren't just wandering sprites, each come with traits that make them react differently, and not always in a helpful way! This is all rounded off by the comedic elements; which are perfect for turning what could be a depressing serious tycoon game into a light hearted entertaining experience, which is impossible not to love.

4.8 / 5.0 - Dead or Alive 6
Mar 1, 2019

Dead or Alive 6 manages to deliver in almost every category you could want. Even if the story isn't that exciting, it's fantastic to look at and some of the characters are a lot of fun to see interact with the world around them. Single players have plenty to see, with online being a little lackluster. Combine this with a fair amount of costumes, thrilling visuals and fantastic mechanics and it makes for an experience worth trying.

There is a reason Disgaea 4 is widely considered the second-best game in the series. The story is endearing, this cast of characters is lovable, the gameplay is extremely refined and the sardine jokes are amusing.

4.8 / 5.0 - Darksiders Genesis
Dec 23, 2019

While the story at times felt a bit trite, and the enemies can feel a bit repetitive, this game is fun to play. While it will only take players around twelve to thirteen hours to complete the first playthrough, between the Apocalyptic difficulty setting, Arena mode, and metroidvania type puzzles, players will find themselves sinking dozens of hours into the game well after completing their first playthrough.

Given Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary Bundle is based on two fairly well-known games from about a decade ago, there is only so much you can say. Both remain extremely engaging and I instantly found myself remembering why I loved both of these games. Even if the story is a bit of a weak point, both titles remain extremely engaging and still better than a fair number of games that release today. The only real downside to the collection is, again, the dated look. But, at roughly $20 apiece, it's easy to justify this ride regardless of this being your first or fifth run.

4.8 / 5.0 - Two Point Hospital
Mar 3, 2020

Two Point Hospital on the Nintendo Switch accomplishes everything that it needs to in order to be considered an excellent port. Even after several hours of game time, the size of the joy-con sticks still presented a problem in precision controls. However, it still translates surprisingly well when docked to a TV or monitor. Even though the controls and smaller screen on the Nintendo Switch tend to get in the way, the loss of quality is not enough to affect just how fun playing this game is.
