This means that, sadly, it’s tough to recommend Six Days in Fallujah, at least right now. It has the makings of a solid game with its generally good gameplay, and its dedication to the realistic setting is absolutely worth commending. However, for its high asking price compared to its contemporaries, there are much more finished titles on the market, many of which also comment on the harsh realities of armed conflict.

A game made by those behind The Stanley Parable that quite frankly is a repeat of the first trick, done badly.

After around one and a half hours the game is over. Nothing much changed for me in those final thirty minutes - finishing the game was almost like a chore. The scenes and the interactive aspects didn’t add much to the overall story, which was pretty much done by the hour mark.

This War of Mine is possibly something many gamers *should* experience for a few hours, but would they enjoy any part of it? That’s a completely different question.

Meh - Bastion
Jul 15, 2018

Bastion's dialogue talks vaguely about the world and the characters, giving off a strong sense of world building, but if you start to dig and think too hard about it, the lack of depth does begin to show. The gameplay is charming and colourful but the mechanics themselves begin to feel a bit like a chore in their implementation.

Liked - Reigns
Feb 1, 2018

Reigns has a unique blend of humour and game mechanics which are perfectly suited to mobile play. It is accessible enough to dip in and out of, but once you’ve played through it a couple of times, you’ll have seen pretty much everything it has to offer. That said, for those few hours, Reigns is definitely worth swiping right for.

INSIDE is a game that requires a player who doesn’t learn as they go along. It is a well-made game from a talented young studio, but save for the final moments has little to wow the player after the first half.

Like a big interlocking puzzle, you'll enjoy unravelling as much of this world as possible, while the narrative itself will keep you invested in the little ball of light far more than you might expect.

The stories being told are delightful in their own right, fully enveloped in searing atmosphere and wonderfully spine-tingling.

From the beautiful (and ugly) ambience of your surroundings, to the mutinous and sad mutterings of the Mudokons and the cacophony of murder on every screen, New ‘N’ Tasty is the perfect addition to your gaming library.

For a game released near-identically across multiple platforms and generations, The Wolf Among Us holds up very well. If you can handle the lack of conventional gameplay and instead approach it as a ‘choose your own adventure’ with a slick script and voice work, check it out.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023)'s campaign is comically bad, its Zombies mode is zonked and its multiplayer just kind of sucks.

3 / 10 - Empire of Sin

Empire of Sin has too many bugs and too many balancing issues to make it worth putting up with its insanely uninspired combat and lacklustre story.

That it dares to be the price of a AAA title is insulting enough, but to be so brazen as to drag down an honest attempt at Supercross simulation means that this just isn't worth even a minute of your time.

The Grand Tour Game doesn't deliver what's needed as an interactive experience and makes you long to watch the show without the irritation of anything else. As an experiment, it provides Amazon with plenty of useful results, all of which indicate something very different is needed to combine TV and gaming media.

A confused, badly designed and derivative mess of a stealth game, which should be avoided at all costs.

Alone in the Dark is a scare-free horror experience, rife with technical issues, a nonsensical plot, and lacklustre performances from its two notable stars.

Chronique des Silencieux has the makings of a decent detective game, but bugs, localisation issues and a stubbornly rigid set of puzzle mechanics hobble it from the outset. Elementary, this is not.

4 / 10 - PAYDAY 3

Payday 3, while having a decent play loop, is a direct downgrade from its predecessor and is loaded with anti-consumer mechanics and major technical issues.
