The Short Message is a short and satisfying modern take on the classic themes of Silent Hill, and overall feels quite solid, especially since it’s free. I’d definitely encourage any fans of the series with a PS5 to check it out. It may not necessarily blow you away or change your life, but it does manage to hold its own and signal a decent return to a series that hasn’t had a proper entry in twelve years.
I enjoyed my time with Salt and Sanctuary, and if you enjoy challenging 2D games or just games with fantastic horror art design, you probably will too.

A familiar tune of discordant harmony.
Resident Evil Revelations was and continues to be a great game, but also a hesitant one that lacked confidence to fully return the series to its survival horror roots.

Overall, Dread X 2 brings together a diverse array of developers, just as the first collection did, but by bringing in more developers and more games, this resulted in more of them feeling lackluster or under-developed. “Probably (not) the greatest game ever made.”
I kept coming back to The Land of Pain instead of writing it off. It is not only an impressive effort from one developer, but it's also inviting to genre fans while being approachable by today's standards. For just $12, it's a solid pick if you're introducing a friend to the genre as well.
