GamePitt's Reviews

If you enjoy visual novels, dark humour or puzzle solving then you can easily sit down and get lost in it (it took me 56 hours to complete my playthrough of this) and I can't recommend it enough. The graphical style won't be for everyone, but for me it fits in with the previous games and the whole comic book/graphic novel style it is trying to pull off.

7.5 / 10.0 - Fragments of Him
Sep 27, 2017

Fragments of Him was an emotional journey and I'm glad I took it, it's not a long game so you can easily pick it up and have it finished (including its trophies) within two to three hours but for this kind of narrative experience, I don't see that as a negative as personally, I've not felt this attached to a film with the same length for example.

Eventide 2: Sorcerer's Mirror is an enjoyable casual game which will appeal to people of all ages (My mum loves these games and are literally the only games she plays on the PS4 I gave her). It sticks to the tried and tested formula of previous PS4 releases by Artifex Mundi, whilst innovating by changing things around and adding some new mechanics.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Video Game is a really good addition to the series. The improved combat mechanics and additional features really help this game stand above the more popular licence based LEGO titles. The story started as a familiar one I've heard a million times yet evolved into one which had me hooked, wanting to watch the next cut scene for the humour and great voice acting.

8.5 / 10.0 - Dungeons 3
Oct 12, 2017

Dungeons 3 is one of the best spiritual successors to Dungeon Keeper out there. There are plenty of missions with multiple objectives which will keep you busy for hours upon hours. As long as you ensure you have at least version 1.3 installed, I believe this game should be in anyone's library who enjoys the RTS and strategy genre.

I really enjoyed my time with The Inner World: the Last Wind Monk, it's an aesthetically good looking game with clever puzzles and very funny dialogue. The story will have you wanting more and the characters will have you wishing you could just talk to them all day to see what they will come up with next.

8 / 10.0 - Jydge
Oct 18, 2017

JYDGE is a great example of how to do a twin-stick shooter correctly. Based on 10tons history, I imagine these types of games are second nature to them by now and it really shows. The game can be challenging, but you are rewarded well with progression in the main story and the magnitude of unlocks you gain throughout your playthrough.

Artifex Mundi is nailing it with the HOG games on consoles, in what some would say is a niche market. Each new series seems to be better than the last, Abyss continues this trend delivering a very relaxing experience with a really good story. I would say that this is one of the best HOG games I've played by Artifex Mundi on consoles

9 / 10.0 - Detention 返校
Oct 24, 2017

Detention is one of those rare games that you come across that not a lot of people may have heard of. It's creepy, eerie and unsettling but thoroughly enjoyable and really interesting to pick up and read all the in-game notes and experience what it was like. I've played and seen people play games much longer than this which don't ever give off the same impact.

Personally, I wasn't a massive fan of the original Nights of Azure, but I couldn't put this game down once I started playing it. The game feels like you are always progressing due to its time limits, whereas a JRPG would usually be a lot slower in its pacing. The combat is solid and you have at least three playthroughs of the game to complete if you wish to try and achieve the platinum.

The Girl and the Robot is a charming, speechless indie title which has had great success since it's Kickstarter campaign. The story is interesting and the puzzles are fun enough to keep you entertained. If you can see past the issues with the combat then I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

8.5 / 10.0 - The Invisible Hours
Nov 3, 2017

If you have a PSVR and are wondering what game to buy which won't make you queasy and doesn't involve platforming or shooting things then this is for you! The story is great, a well-known one but with twists and turns which you don't expect that will keep you entertained for hours. Tequila Works had me believing I was inside a murder mystery, fully immersed more than any game, TV show or movie ever has.

Fans of Touhou games may find more enjoyment than others with Burst Battle. If you are looking for a hard-core fighting game with solid controls, a deep story and a very active online player-base then I wouldn't say this game was for you. If you don't mind clunky controls and a serious challenge in completing everything game has to offer, then this one may be for you.

Outcast: Second Contact is a love letter to fans of the original game, it has everything the original had (including its bugs) but with a new coat of paint and some useful new moves. Appeal have made the game more accessible to gamers today with the regenerative health and difficulty choices but you must understand that the game still thinks It's 1999 in the control department.

de Blob is a charming game which can be enjoyed by everyone. The colourful, fun nature of the game makes it a joy to play and the music makes it even more relaxing. Maybe watch a small snippet of gameplay and see if you would enjoy it as the overall mechanics don't change throughout the game.

6 / 10.0 - Sonic Forces
Nov 17, 2017

Sonic Forces has come out at a bad time. Had it come out at a time where Sonic Mania wasn't a thing then I'm sure it would be seen as a decent iteration of the Sonic franchise. With that said, it isn't technically a bad game, it looks and runs great, it just tries too hard to be a bit of everything which in-turn results in it being forgetful and lacking in a lot of areas.

8 / 10.0 - Ben 10
Nov 22, 2017

Ben 10 is a great little 3D platforming brawler which can be enjoyed by anyone of all ages. You can easily pick it up and play the odd mission here and there within 15-20 mins or aim to complete them in under 15 if you are going for the speedrun trophies. For the adults, there is a challenge within the trophies (defeating the bosses without taking damage) yet for the kids, there is repetitive, mindless enjoyment.

School Girl/Zombie Hunter is a fun zombie slaughtering sim. The game has a story which is quite generic but with a few surprises thrown in and fans of games such as Earth Defence Force, Dynasty Warriors and Onechanbara will most likely be the target audience here. I feel the multiplayer could be a lot of fun with people you know and a great laugh.

8.5 / 10.0 - Burly Men At Sea
Nov 24, 2017

Burly Men at Sea is a great little indie title, it offers unique gameplay elements which offer a lot of replayability. If you're looking for a game which you can play in short 20-30min bursts then this game would be perfect for you. It isn't hard, but it is fun to figure out how to activate the next branch in the story.

PixelJunk VR Dead Hungry is a great game for showing off the brilliance of VR. It has all the things you'd want: use of move controllers, fully interactive environment, realistic looking reality and rock-solid mechanics. However, the gameplay itself doesn't vary much as you progress, adding only a few more options and bumping up the difficulty, meaning you just have to get faster at doing the same things.
