Xbox Sector's Reviews

Even with that said, DOS2 is an incredible game. Paying homage to the classics from a different age while at the same time surpassing them in almost every respect. Play. Now.

9.1 / 10.0 - Onrush
Jun 4, 2018

I'm a fan of Arcade racers, the first game I purchased on the Switch was MarioKart and Blur, Split Second and Burnout remakes would be on my list long before Forza. ONRUSH doens't just scratch an itch, it pushes the boundaries, the last time I enjoyed ANY driving game this much was Burnout Paradise and Codemasters have provided us with the best arcade driving game in over a decade.

9 / 10.0 - Strange Brigade
Sep 1, 2018

I'd highly recommend Strange Brigade, regardless of your familiarity with games of this genre or style, anyone can get involved and enjoy it. Strange Brigade poses a fair but rewarding challenge, with the opportunity to push yourself further if desired. With the number of in-game items to unlock, characters to familiarise yourself with and modes to try out, Strange Brigade has plenty of content to keep you coming back for more.

9 / 10.0 - Dead Cells
Aug 5, 2018

I'd highly recommend Dead Cells, regardless if you're a fan of "roguelike-metroidvania" style games. It's a real treat to get your hands on and well worth the asking price. It offers tones of replay-ability due to the emphasis on exploration and how the game reacts to each and every single death.

8.9 / 10.0 - Far Cry 5
Mar 31, 2018

Far Cry 5 took me by surprise, it’s as big, beautiful and bizarre as 3 or 4, but Far Cry 5 is refined to create my favourite Far Cry experience to date.

Aug 16, 2018

It’s like anything in life, the more effort you put in, the better the reward is, those who put in the time and effort to master F1 2018 are the ones who will have the best experience with it. You’re rewarded for becoming more efficient and quick on your toes. If you’re looking for an engaging, immersive and highly enjoyable racing game, then F1 2018 is going to be right up your street. I would highly recommend this to both newcomers and hardcore fans of racing games.

8.3 / 10.0 - 20XX

20XX stands alone as not only a perfect alternative for Megaman fans, but also a fantastic game in its own right.

8.3 / 10.0 - Vampyr
Jun 11, 2018

Vampyr might not please everybody, but if you're looking for a lite action-RPG experience with plenty of Dontnod excellence when it comes to story, charaters and narration, you're in for a treat.

8.3 / 10.0 - Overcooked 2
Aug 6, 2018

The sequel to one of the Xbox's best ever co-operative games is bigger and better in almost every way. I can't recommend that you play solo, but, with the addition of online multiplayer, why would you?

8.3 / 10.0 - Shadows: Awakening
Aug 30, 2018

In truth I've laboured too long on the negatives. Shadows: Awakening is a brilliantly viable alternative to Diablo with plenty of ideas that hold up in their own right. Add in alternative endings and LOADS of content and you'll be there for hours.

8 / 10.0 - The Long Reach
Jul 17, 2018

More of a Psychological experience for the mature gamer who wants a change of pace while still taxing the grey matter. At £11.99, it's worth every penny.

7.8 / 10.0 - State of Mind
Aug 14, 2018

The fact I'm having to go back to Fahrenheit on the Xbox as a reference point for State of Mind shows what an under-represented category the story driven adventure genre has become. I hope that changes in the coming years because State of Mind tells a really interesting tale with teriffically multi-dimensional characters only let down by some unwillingness to give the player control.

7.7 / 10.0 - Dimension Drive
Sep 9, 2018

Dimension Drive is a intense scrolling shooter, where you switch dimensions between two screens to avoid (or in my cas,e crash into) enemies. It's well made, appealing and incredibly challenging and if SHMUP games are for you, then it's well worth checking out Dimension Drive @ XBOX.COM

7.7 / 10.0 - Frost
Jul 23, 2018

Frost is a superbly thought out deck-building strategy game. With continued support in the form of additional scenarios or even new rule sets further down the line, there is the potential for a classic in the vein of Carcassone here. If you have even a passing interest in board game type experiences developed into video games, give Frost a try.

7.5 / 10.0 - Masters of Anima
Apr 14, 2018

Masters of Anima is a fun minion commanding adventure which is well-polished and balanced enough to make the £15.99 asking price reasonable, sadly it’s not great value due to lacking anything after the main story beside the impressive and well-controlled gameplay.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Crew 2

The Crew 2 is a very good, fun racing experience, but it's holding itself back with a few minor annoyances.

Aragami is a fun, unique, stealth based action game that pays tribute to how stealth games used to be, it's tricky, challenging and rewarding with graphics and presentation that impress for a small development team. Aragami has its annoyances, but beyond those there's a thoroughly enjoyable stealth system which will reward the patient.

It's a mature title that occasionally confuses itself, guidance, gameplay mechanics and the story sometimes feel a little awkward, but overall it's still very much worth considering.
