"Dynasty Warriors 9" presents series fans with tried and tested features and shines with some new game approaches. Even though the tactical battles go hand in hand with the crafting system, the simplified cloppings will cause boredom in the long run. Although the vast world scores with a wide variety of topics, many graphic errors make the overall picture appear uneven and significantly cloud the game feel. We hope that Omega Force will learn from these mistakes and continue to pamper friends of the series with promising titles.

"Pizza Connection 3" proves to be a nice economic simulation that skilfully takes up old roots. Despite small improvements, the game doesn't make full use of the given possibilities and lacks a lot of playful variety. We would have liked to see more innovations here, so that the title could also play with the big ones. Nevertheless, fans of the series will enjoy the game and can revive the good old days.

The Nintendo Switch port of Dead in Vinland leaves me with mixed feelings. While managing one's own village and several individuals is a lot of fun, the fear of the permanent death of a character drives me and the size kills me in a positive sense, unfortunately I can't ignore the quirks of the title. The fighting system lacks the necessary depth and the finishing touches, the presentation of the many texts in handheld mode is cruel and the dialogue system isn't flawless either. For the rather low price, however, genre fans get a concentrated load of Survival RPG here, which can tie them up over 40 hours before the switch. But for that you have to be able to overlook the errors.

7 / 10.0 - Fallout 76
Nov 24, 2018

At Fallout 76 you can't expect the perfect adventure holiday with all-inclusive service shortly after your arrival. On the other hand, the title weakens with a technically weak framework, which, in addition to performance losses, also comes up with bugs, glitches and a rather old-fashioned graphics performance. While the new skill card system, the camp mechanics and also the cooperative components are very motivating, the technical as well as the graphic framework is clearly behind its expectations. The world itself boasts an immense size, convinces with the ingenious bounty system, but at the same time doesn't manage to make the game world lively enough and catapult the stubborn story into an exciting environment. Fallout 76 offers veterans of the role-playing epic a solid multiplayer experience, but unfortunately leaves beginners mercilessly on the sidelines. Solo players, on the other hand, get their money's worth, even though they can't exploit most of the potential and fun of the game.

On the whole, I definitely had a lot of fun with Team Sonic Racing. Graphically and sound technically I was really convinced. Unfortunately, as a switch player, I had to lose a bit during the performance. Team Sonic Racing is a solid, arcadic funracer and, despite some criticism, cuts a good figure. The adventure mode, which unfortunately didn't go down so well with me, doesn't offer a profound story, but crisp challenges and some variety. But Sega: The technology and the concept are great, but please take the "Sega All-Stars" on board again next time. Finally, I can only warmly recommend PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC gamers - even switch owners can access it courageously, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still the undisputed front-runner here.

7 / 10 - JUMP FORCE
Feb 26, 2019

Jump Force is first and foremost an entertaining brawler who lives from his licenses and powerful visual effects. If you leave aside the loveless staging, the graphic style that takes getting used to, and some questionable design decisions, the rapid, albeit quite simple fights are especially memorable. But let's be honest: Jump Force lacks so much fine-tuning, depth and ambition that the brawler inevitably has to live an existence in mediocrity. And yet, the distinctive fan service, which can be found in so many facets of the game, should draw anime and manga fans of all kinds into its spell.

7 / 10 - Truberbrook
Apr 18, 2019

In order to do justice to Trüberbrook, one must distinguish between two or three basic aspects: Story/Gameplay and Presentation. While the presentation is on a very high level thanks to the good voice actors and the unique backdrops, the other two aspects are a bit different. Despite its straightforwardness, the story is relatively interesting, but quickly loses its tension because of the rather average game mechanics. Basically, the studio btf proves that everyone involved understands their craft very well and also solidly applies it to video games, but that they can still use some help when it comes to game mechanics. For fans of point & click adventure games it's definitely a nice title for in between because of the low price. All in all Trüberbrook is not a title you have to have played.

7 / 10 - Windscape
Apr 1, 2019

Overall, Windscape is a successful indie title. An affectionately arranged world with many facets invites to some hours of fun. The game isn't perfect and doesn't offer the greatest challenge, but entertains well over the season and has its own charm. For fans of RPGs and Action Adventures it's well worth a look. Due to its rather short-lived quests it can also be played with little time and doesn't need any intensive activity like most RPGs. Windscape is therefore a kind of mini role playing game, which works very well without a skill system.

7 / 10 - Dark Devotion
May 23, 2019

Dark Devotion is not the little two-dimensional sister of Dark Souls, but could be the illegitimate daughter of Demon's Souls. If the developers don't want to handle the term Souls-like themselves, others have to. Who has a problem with the term should also think about where the term Rouge-like comes from. Well, it's a Souls-like title! The game story is rudimentary. The focus is on the ungracious gameplay. The title not only manages to break down the typical Souls fighting mechanics to the 2D level, but also lets you get into this feeling mode to have respect for every opponent and every new level section. The wonderfully dark atmosphere does the rest and lets you dive into this two-dimensional, merciless world, especially with the extremely harmonious sound scenery.

Stranger Things 3: The Game is a must for all fans of the series. With its 16-bit look, beautiful animations and great soundtrack, it captures the charm of the Netflix production almost perfectly. Also, the split-screen mode is simply great, because this feeling of playing together fits very nicely with the series and Netflix in general. In my opinion, you can ignore the slight jolts during big brawls and the relatively poor gameplay, because otherwise the whole package is convincing. For someone who hasn't warmed up with the series yet but wants a retro-adventure, the current price of about 20€ could be a bit daunting.

Remnant: From the Ashes is an uncompromising Loot-Shooter in the Souls garb, who doesn't succeed in combining the best of both worlds despite his great ambitions. But if you disregard the small technical weaknesses and some questionable design decisions, Remnant knows how to motivate over longer distances, not least thanks to his reward system. The new procedurally generated levels are a nice, diversified bonus, but not every genre fan should like them. If you've always wanted to play a Soulsbourne title together with friends, Remnant: From the Ashes is undeniably the best chance.

7 / 10 - Night Call
Aug 1, 2019

Night Call feels like solving a puzzle without having seen the picture on the packaging. It therefore works best when you drive through the wet streets of Paris, throw yourself into the conversations and just let the case come to you. It turns out to be a dark secret who the killer is after all. One thing's for sure: the killer himself is the least interesting narrative element in the game.

7 / 10 - The Surge 2
Oct 24, 2019

Altogether The Surge 2 is a successful sequel, which not only reinterprets the usual Souls mechanics, but has completely developed its own gameplay mechanics and puts them in the foreground. It plays faster and more fluently than its predecessor. The combat system is simply successful and is enormously fun with the wonderfully animated finish moves. Only the less impressive design of the bosses and thus also the boss fights lag behind those of the predecessor. The basic story of the game is very interesting and even has some social criticism traits. However, the plot quickly degenerates into a boring scavenger hunt. However, this doesn't harm the motivation to explore the interesting world, to find and level up Loot.

Blacksad: Under the Skin is an exciting adventure game that will take you back to the 50s. Only in the technical implementation there are flaws that cloud the overall picture of the game. Apart from that, Blacksad entertains well and offers some entertaining hours, especially for fans of detective stories.

Obsidian Entertainment is making a flight of fancy with the role-playing game The Outer Worlds, which Bethesda was denied last year. Despite the strongly linear structures and the half-open, lifeless areas, The Outer Worlds indisputably follows in the big AAA footsteps of the Fallout franchise without embarrassing itself. Thanks to the great variance of decision possibilities and the deeply rooted moral system, the American studio also enhances the marginal complexity behind the role-playing construct, which above all benefits the narrative with its humorous touch and entertaining social criticism. Obsidian Entertainment simply relies on the player as an unforeseen variable to counter repetitive influences. With the versatile solutions and the opaque moral component, the Fallout New Vegas developer finally gives Bethesda instructions on how to pull up the controls of a crashing plane.

Feb 24, 2020

I enjoyed the game very much and I am happy to have finished it. But I would not play it again. Not because the story didn't grab me, or because the above mentioned points would bother me too much. Rather because there are simply not, as for example in a "Life is Strange", different decisions to be made, which would dramatically affect the gaming experience. Furthermore, the player can neither find out more about the history of the game by exploring it, nor are there any collectibles. I think that's a pity. I had the feeling all along that the game was giving away a lot of potential. Still, if you're looking for a game with a gripping and exciting story, and that's the most important thing in the game to you, you'll have a lot of fun with 'The Suicide of Rachel Foster'. But be careful, the story may seem harmless at first, but can be very hard to digest. If you're having trouble with the general theme of the game, I recommend the same as the publisher: Don't play alone and get help.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is basically a successful Dungeon Crawler, with over 20 hours of campaigning and an almost endless list of side quests. Apart from the sluggish and sleepy start, Rescue Team DX knows how to motivate thanks to its charming presentation and addictive Pokemon mechanics. The Rogue-Lite with Pokemon label is a nice and not too demanding pastime, especially when you're on the go, and in times of budget smartphone games, it's a welcome change.

7 / 10 - Sakura Wars
Apr 27, 2020

After years of hibernation, Sakura Wars finally returns to the scene and doesn't shy away from some fundamental changes. We still spend most of our time getting to know the new members of the new Flower Division, deepening our relationship with them, or even getting up close and personal with them. At the heart of Sakura Wars remains the compelling story of the Flower Division's rebuilding and return to its former glory. The plot consistently succeeds in the balancing act between funny anime humor and serious tones - a fact that is underlined by the successful staging and visuals. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks in terms of game mechanics, because the adventure as well as fight passages have to struggle with their monotony at regular intervals. Keyword fight: these say goodbye to their tactical roots and open the door for an action-oriented Musou approach. These battles know how to entertain over long distances, but are again and again slowed down by rough control and lack of variety. And yet: Sakura Wars knew how to lure me to the controller again and again with its charm and offers anime enthusiasts a sensitive story, which will captivate for a good 30 hours, if you can overlook some technical shortcomings.

Hangar 13 has indisputably made Mafia Definitive Edition exactly the remake it had to be in order to entertain and at the same time not to disrespectfully alienate the clearly outdated original. The narrative approach is based on the right set screws, in order to bring the action adventure into the modern age. Thanks to the expanded character profiles, the successful voice recordings and the impressive visuals, the narrative gains additional emotionality and presents you with a rousing story-focused mafia adventure that is unlike any other. At the same time, the new edition has to struggle with the complex, limited game elements. Hakeliges Gunplay, the strongly linear level structures as well as the partly not flawless technical implementation show that Hangar 13 did not yet want to take the leap into modern times. Even though Mafia Definitive Edition never met the multi-layered shooter standard, the game with its consistent simplicity feels coherent enough to entertain during the almost 10-hour campaign. In combination with the difficult setting options, the remake is the perfect snack for the nostalgia-bright players and those who want to become one in the future.

Little Nightmares II is an intense and atmospheric scary experience, which, however, is a bit weak on the gameplay side. The character and sound design are still excellently staged, the entertaining puzzles fit well into the minimalistic concept and the whimsical design fascinates from the first minute on. Nevertheless, the unintuitive and sluggish controls keep nibbling away at our frustration tolerance, and the trail & error concept unfortunately repeatedly pulls us out of the intense atmosphere. Like its predecessor, Little Nightmares II may not be a hardcore horror, but it is a likeable and entertaining thrill ride that will keep you entertained for a few hours.
