Fun Factor's Reviews

Unscored - Luna
Mar 25, 2020

Unfortunately, without the VR component and someone younger to share the experience, Luna is difficult to review. However, its interactive fairy tale presentation is supported by an aesthetic that recalls a childlike and tactile feeling, a haunting and serene soundtrack along with a gripping narration and simple puzzles. Luna is an easy recommendation if you have a sibling or a child or if you want to introduce someone to games.

Cthulhu Tactics breaks the promise of a good game with repetitive and monotonous gameplay. Becoming a victim of its own lack of ambition and a poor use of its original content, HP Lovecraft fans will be disappointed at this entry, as the game buries itself in its mediocrity.

5 / 10.0 - Sonic Superstars
Oct 25, 2023

Sonic Superstars starts off well enough, but the more you play, the more cracks it starts to show. The quality of the levels just falls off after a while, and the bosses are unbelievably frustrating. For its current price tag, it's impossible for me to recommend this game to anyone.

5 / 10.0 - Dead Island 2
Apr 27, 2023

The best thing I have to say about Dead Island 2 is "It's a zombie game that released in 2023.". It's a generic, repetitive title that thinks it's funnier that it really is. After 15 hours, I was begging for it to be over.

5 / 10.0 - Digimon Survive
Sep 5, 2022

As an avid Digimon fan, I'm disappointed to say that Survive did not meet my expectations at all. The combat is extremely superficial, the writing is as deep as a puddle, and the world is one of the most uninteresting the series has ever produced.

Although Nexomon: Extinction's story gives the game an unique charm, its remaining aspects do not elevate it inside the genre. I expected more from Nexomon and I was left disappointed, the game failed to offer a memorable journey thanks its unbalanced gameplay, tedious grind and lack of innovation.

5.5 / 10.0 - Saints Row
Aug 31, 2022

Saints Row has the potential to be a decent video game, but it's so repetitive and filled with so many technical problems that it becomes hard to recommend.

5.5 / 10.0 - Minecraft Dungeons
Sep 19, 2020

Minecraft Dungeons brings the crafting game's charm to a dungeon crawler type of game and can be pretty fun in short bursts. Unfortunately, the game's long and repetitive dungeons get boring quickly.

Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid is easy to learn and fun to play and the different play styles on the characters make up for the lack of variety. However, the game still lacks enough content to justify playing it for more than a few hours. As a fighting game, the core is fine, but it needs a lot of improving.

5.8 / 10.0 - Desert Child
Apr 23, 2019

Desert Child's final outcome is not enough to secure a completely satisfying experience. While its game play can be pleasant, but equally limited. After several hours its game play loop ends up disappointing and the initial curiosity to explore its beautiful city and mechanics loses itself on what is a forgettable quest, despite the excellent soundtrack.

After finishing the campaign in a few hours, I've felt that Unleashed 2 didn't have much to offer. The track builder is a strong feature for the creative type players, and overall the game is solid, even if a bit too simple. If you can grab it at a discount, it's a good Christmas gift for children who like the toy brand, but other than that, I can't recommend this game at its full price.

6 / 10.0 - Starfield
Sep 22, 2023

I've got mixed feelings towards Starfield. Even though I found the game entertaining throughout my playthrough, it's so far from being a memorable experience. The combat is decent enough, the plot is mostly forgettable and the characters are just... bland. It doesn't help that you spent a good chunk of your time fast traveling around.

6 / 10.0 - Atomic Heart
Jul 11, 2023

While I struggled with defining Atomic Heart's identity, I think I can assume a few things about the game. Narratively, it wants to be comical even with its tragedy, but the main plot bets on the drama behind the main character's past and their personal relationships; as well as predictable and empty plot twists. Despite the comparisons with Bioshock, it doesn't step too close to the atmosphere or even the combat of the classic title. It tries to be itself, even though the inspirations are noticeable. Although I was enamored with the first trailers of Atomic Heart and dreamt of that "beyond Bioshock" title, with several websites reporting on development problems and the successive delays made me wary of it. In the end, I still enjoyed the game for what it offered, even after losing its charm due to its frustrations and disappointments.

While adding some wonderful modes like Merry Magoland and the Magolor Epilogue, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe leaves a lot to be desired with its shallow and boring level design carried over from an ok 12 year old game, not justifying it's full price.

6 / 10.0 - Ghostwire: Tokyo
Mar 31, 2022

At its best, Ghostwire: Tokyo shows us a world that is under siege by beings from the afterlife who can manipulate the spaces around them, distort reality and give us quite the scare. At its worst, which happens way too often, it leaves us to take care of busywork in an open world that needed to have a lot more thought put into it to really work.

6 / 10.0 - Road 96
Sep 9, 2021

In spite of a few issues, I enjoyed my time with Road 96 and its attempt to deal with a serious and delicate subject. I do think that the game's mechanics could've been more substantial to the story. Meaning the game did not live up to its full potential.

The Spectrum Retreat is a fun game that doesn't outstay its welcome. The failed attempt to reconcile the narrative and gameplay aspects may leave the player seeing each as an obstacle. The voice acting, soundtrack, and visuals are well executed but not enough to elevate the game quality.
