Penny’s Big Breakaway is a game in which the idiomatic expression “first you find it strange, then you understand it” is perfectly applied. The first impact causes some strangeness and confusion to more modern gaming sensibilities, but as we progress and master the mechanics better, we find a real pearl in this experience. It will not yet be a milestone within the 3D platform genre, mainly due to some inconsistencies and some technical problems that disturb the experience, but it is a game that leaves us with our mouths watering, and praying that Penny ends up leaving in more adventures in the future.

Mario Vs. Donkey Kong marks a competent and, above all, fun return to one of the most underrated subseries by the famous plumber. Most levels are simple and short, but very well designed, offering a wide variety of challenges. The game's new paint job is also appealing, the new levels add several new elements and the single player mode (along with the cooperative mode) can be the perfect gateway to show a younger person how fascinating the world of video games can be. It suffers a little from some inconsistency regarding the quality of the Plus levels and some problems in detecting collisions and contact with enemies. But overall, it's a quality experience, which will please new players as well as those nostalgic for this type of monkey business.

Persona 5 Tactica offers a captivating experience, but fails to introduce new and different game mechanics... something that others in the genre can do better. Still, it features a captivating narrative, on-point conceptual art and an extraordinary soundtrack. These elements in themselves help immensely in transmitting a rewarding experience to the player. However, we feel like it might be time to let our favorite thieves rest a little and embark on new adventures!

Final Fantasy XVI is a page-turner. Better still, it's the beginning of a new book. Although there are some things that still bring to mind the weight that the name carries, Square Enix takes a completely different path in almost everything this experience gives us. It's a good story, with its exceptional peaks, but the climb up there is quite boring and difficult to digest. It feels that, somewhere in middle of the story there are repetitive moments of sloppiness that greatly undermined everything good that this Final Fantasy could provide us. I accept that the changes had to happen, but it leaves a bittersweet taste in the end.

I never thought I would leave with a smile on my lips from a murder mystery game in which solving murders is the least successful part, but Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE surprised me. It's a pleasure to get to know the central mysteries, characters, and locations of Kanai Ward, regardless of the ease of the crimes or some technical problems. With this title, Too Kyo Games and Spike Chunsoft have established an interesting reinterpretation of Danganronpa's mechanics, which we eagerly hope will be used as a basis and improved in new adventures by these elite detectives.

I didn't find in ANONYMOUS;CODE the fascinating characters and development arcs that won me over in other SciADV experiences, but this continuation of the saga mitigates this omission with an exciting sci-fi narrative, mature explorations of intriguing themes and the introduction of a save/load mechanic which gives the player an active role in events.

Whether you’re a fan of the classics or new player, and whether you love strategy game or you’re total newbies, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a quality pack. Deep and accessible in equal measures, the gameplay expertly balances simplicity and challenge, making it so that players with all sorts of tastes can get many, many hours of fun from these remakes’ campaigns. There are quite a few frustrating aspects and levels that have us raising eyebrows, but that doesn’t stop this from being a quality title that will please any Nintendo fan.

Atomic Heart is a game that constantly takes one step back for every two it takes forward. Everything that does extremely well always comes with a “but” stuck in it. Visually it is incredibly beautiful, but the characters are ugly. The third-person shooter gameplay is extremely fun, but the arena design is frustrating. The world and the story are quite interesting, but there's one more twist that doesn't make sense and the protagonist is obnoxious. Still, it's an experience with more significant highs than lows, and one that fans of first-person shooters can take a lot of pleasure from.

Powerwash Simulator is one of the most relaxing and rewarding gaming experiences I can remember. The simple and immersive gameplay leads to an authentic state of zen for dozens of hours, falling short of nirvana due to a boring design decision and technical problems that end up being exhausting. Even so, it's a great game to relax and wash away our irritations and day-to-day problems, making it a recommendable experience even for those who aren't fans of this type of games.

Anyone who plays Persona 4 will quickly notice that it is the basis for the creation of Persona 5. There is no escaping this reality. Fortunately, we are pleased to note that a game from 2008 still manages to present arguments to go head to head with another from 2016, or even the most recent releases from the Publisher. Despite all the similarities present, with this title in particular, the game presents a sufficiently interesting experience, demonstrating that there are titles, despite how old they are, they deserve to have an opportunity these days. Persona 4 Golden is one of them!

Soul Hackers 2 is a solid turn-based RPG, but it fails to introduce anything new or consolidate all elements of the introduced experience. Fortunately, it features great characterization and a solid plot that keeps us on our toes throughout the game. Fans of Shin Megami Tensei will certainly be able to enjoy it, but overall there are better alternatives.

Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is a good action/adventure game that focuses on a diversified combat and narrative to bring a pleasant experience to the player. There are a few opportunities of improvement, such as the simplistic textures (which also tend to become repetitive) or the lack of guidance features in the map or cenarios (which tend to difficultate our navigation to the objective). Still, in a global context, these are aspects that don't spoil the experience much and we recommended our readers to give the irreverent Hilda a chance!

The Cruel King and the Great Hero is a lovely RPG, carefully hand drawn, that presents us with a story of supplanting and growth. The players are presented with an exciting experience, even though quite elementar towards it's mechanics. The final sensation is that we are facing a fairy tale that is presented to us in a magical way. Despite the tedious random battles, the experience tends to reveal itself as captivating throughout its duration. Essentially, we consider a title that deserves to be passed by everyone at least once.

How you'll enjoy Metroid Dread depends on what you're expecting from the game. If you want a traditional Metroid experience, don't hesitate, because that's exactly what Metroid Dread is. In addition to following the formula of the classics to the letter, Dread introduces us to the most versatile and agile Samus in the series, majestic and challenging bosses, and an HD presentation that is a treat for the eyes. But we were hoping to find in Dread some kind of evolution of the formula, a wish that we don't deem unfair considering the indie titles of the same genre which managed successfully to improve the formula's potential. Metroid Dread seems to have been created in a bubble, so much so that the only innovation that MercurySteam has introduced is a new type of enemies, the seven E.M.M.I., which poetically exhaust their originality in minutes.

If you enjoy the genre, G.Darius HD is an experience not to be missed. One of the best and most innovative releases in the series, featuring a quality transition to 3D. This HD version, thanks to its aesthetic improvements and soundtrack typical of the saga, will grab anyone for many long hours. Whether it's to complete the game, get the best scores or complete the catalog of enemies, you can count on a pleasantly extensive experience!

Crytek defines Crysis Remastered as an epic singleplayer experience. Both Crysis 2 and 3 are on par with newer first-person shooters, achieving great association with the characters and introducing a captivating storyline and theme. It's really a shame they didn't take the same care in refining the first title to make this experience complete. A clear opportunity for improvement in this set. However, its inclusion in this package is essential. We strongly recommend it if you want to relive this epic saga. If you're fans of first person shooters and focusing on single-player campaigns, it's also an experience to behold.

Kitaria Fables is intended to reward the most patient players . Having to plant, water, mow and mine to be up to the curve of difficulty that the game presents us, can leave the most impatient unwilling to complete this experience. However, getting involved in this system brings a feeling of realization that still has the premise of seeing the unfolding of the story and all its twists in this adventure with cats, goats, tigers, bears, among others.

Shin Megami Tensei is a memorable sign of what the series represents. Atlus has done a great job when it comes to updating the title to the current dynamics of video games. Still it is to be noted that there are significant points that should have been improved. Mainly with regard to videos and soundtrack, which could provide a significantly improved experience. Nevertheless, it is the best version of the game and the easiest way for current players to experience the series and learn about the origins of the mechanics, designs and themes of its Spinoffs.

R-Type Final 2 is a return to the origins just like relieving an arcade experience. The old school difficulty is very present, so for players new to the genre, get ready to take a lot of beating! Still, we guarantee that you will love this space war, which offers, pretty much, the best experience of its' kind. A real ode to the old days of the arcade and an unmissable title for lovers of the genre.

Lost Words: Beyond the Pages is a profound experience of a child's grieving procedure. Presenting a huge dose of introspection, it takes us on several occasions, along an emotional path that we rarely find in video games. The combination of interesting gameplay and watercolor-style graphics helps make this a unique experience.
