7 / 10.0 - Treehouse Riddle
Sep 22, 2001

Treehouse Riddle is a very competent title and has many clever and satisfying puzzles to solve. The uninspired graphics and music don't allow the game to reach higher levels, but it's not enough to spoil or detract from its value. Finally, the fact that many of the puzzles involve math may turn some players off; however, for those who don't hate calculations, the Fruitbat Factory title offers good hours of thinking and fun.

7 / 10.0 - Dogurai
Apr 18, 2020

Nostalgic fans of the genre are likely to be entertained enough, but it's hard to say that Dogurai is a must for most players. There is something different and intriguing here in this first release from Hungry Bear Games, but it all ends too quickly. Even though the duration is a direct reference to the source material (platform classics from the 8-bit era), this shouldn't be a limitation - several NES games and the original Game Boy were gigantic and full of content. I look forward to seeing what the studio is planning for the future, the potential is there.

7 / 10.0 - ITTA
Apr 30, 2020

Despite the flaws, ITTA is a title that stands out in a way. The graphics and fluid animations, for example, show zeal and delicacy while pleasing the eyes. Along with the intriguing narrative and the almost abstract sound part, the title manages to create a melancholy and introspective atmosphere that can be palpable. It is a pity that everything ends so quickly: it is possible to complete ITTA in about three to four hours without problems, and there is not much to do afterwards.

Yumeutsutsu is a curious story that uses a small game development company as the basis for a romance with hints of drama. Even with a protagonist that it not very interesting and with some writing problems, it is worth checking out if the player is interested in following a little of the routine of women producing games at the same time that they relate lovingly.

Respecting the classic trilogy and modernizing some fundamental points, the game fantastically revives one of the most iconic series of beat 'em ups. It also deserves praise for offering an experience that appeals to both its old school audience and those who will now start fighting over the streets of Wood Oak City. The wait has been long, but Streets of Rage 4 presents us with a game that honors and expands the rich legacy of the franchise.

6.5 / 10.0 - 80's Overdrive
May 19, 2020

80's Overdrive has really nice details and elements on its scenery, has a cool and exciting soundtrack and has simple mechanics such as the car's fuel level meter, body status indicator and the possibility of improving parts that add some depth to the races and keep you on the lookout for more. But, unfortunately, the game doesn't go much further and delivers a monotonous experience in the long run. In addition to barely presenting new content in relation to its first version and the complete absence of multiplayer, the title bets heavily on nostalgia - which may be good or bad for some - and has somewhat locked controls, which directly impacts the main objective of the player: to win races.

Spirit of the North is one of those games that had everything to be a good success story. After all, in addition to having an interesting premise and being visually attractive, it is the debut title of a developer with only two people. However, going beyond its appearance, there is a frustrating title, with confusing design, problematic controls and boring missions. The hope is that Infuse Studio will take all the experience gained from this debut title and further improve its development for future games. The graphics technique, apparently, they already have. All that remains is to tighten the loose screws on the gameplay side.

8 / 10.0 - The Outer Worlds
Jun 17, 2020

Despite the weaker graphics, the game is still a very fun experience and I believe that this port manages to bring the strengths of this adventure: a well-tied story combined with battle mechanics that does not disappoint.

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics is one of those typical titles made to be played in small bursts, when we have some time to kill or when we want some quick fun with friends and family. The wide variety of games and their intuitive and varied controls means that the game can be enjoyed by different types of people. Its minimalist and fun presentation is the icing on the cake.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is one of the best RPGs currently available on the console. The technical aspect of the graphics in the portable mode is the only negative element I can think of, and it is far from being a problem that actively disrupts the game. I confess that I had a lot more fun than I expected exploring the gigantic world that it has to offer and I believe that any RPG fan who has not yet played it should take the opportunity to dive into this classic.

The unquestionable fact here is that the first DLC in Pokémon history could have been something much more grand, or at least memorable. It is possible to have fun, enjoy a few quick moments and you can certainly kill some time. Pokémon fans will feel compelled to buy the expansion, and if they want to extend the Sword / Shield experience, there really is no other option. It is a pity, however, that we fans always have to be content with so little on the part of Game Freak.

Bioshock: The Collection unites three great works from the entertainment industry, which influenced several other subsequent steampunk themed titles. There is no doubt, therefore, that this is an indispensable collection on the Switch for those who have never tried it before. There are some minor problems that could be fixed, yes, but nothing that undermines the excellent - and philosophical - gameplay.

6.5 / 10.0 - Ruiner
Jun 30, 2020

Ruiner is a futuristic adventure with some interesting features, but it fails to stand out. The cyberpunk atmosphere is impeccable with its elaborate world, great art direction and electronic soundtrack. As a game, it features basic and competent shooting mechanics that have been combined with some skills that offer good possibilities and agile confrontations. However, the experience proves to be quite repetitive because of the limited structure of stages, the small variety of enemies and situations, and problems in the difficulty. In the end, Ruiner is a brief but not memorable diversion.

In a way, this weirdly licensed SpongeBob game is a decent piece of video game history and I think it's worth taking a chance if you like the genre. Some interesting new features also come up, like support for menus and subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese, and a very simple multiplayer mode in which you and a friend attack waves of enemies in sequence. Battle for Bikini Bottom has never been a perfect game - and it certainly is not yet the case - but it, at the very least, continues with its unique charm and outstanding gameplay.

7 / 10.0 - Good Job!
Jul 2, 2020

Good Job! it is undoubtedly a commendable attempt. The game can be a lot of fun if the player incorporates the employee who has absolutely nothing to lose and takes advantage that his salary is not at risk to de-stress and break everything he finds in front of him.

7 / 10.0 - The Almost Gone
Jul 6, 2020

The Almost Gone takes risks in an area little explored even by other indie developers, allowing the player to experience unique sensations. In short, it is a rich journey through the human subconscious.

6 / 10.0 - Blair Witch
Jul 8, 2020

Blair Witch is not a totally horrible game, but it is far from good enough to be strongly recommended. Which is a shame, because there are strong points in the title, which in the end ended up being buried by long and repetitive sessions of looking for collectibles and puzzles with little logical sense.

Catherine: Full Body is about the two extremes of adult life: commitment or freedom. The story may seem to have some holes or badly developed characters, but this is not a flaw, because the intention of the game is to become a metaphor using precisely this context of indecision and questioning that the protagonist lives. With beautiful visuals and renewed gameplay, the remastering can please both those who have tried the original title and those who will play it for the first time.

For its freedom and genuine arcade experience, therefore, Burnout Paradise Remastered deserves the recommendation as one of the most opportune conversions of the last generation, albeit late, and a beautiful addition to the growing library of racing games on the Switch.

Particularly, I still consider Deadly Premonition 2 spectacular, but it is necessary that the player has a lot of patience to deal with its flawed aspects. I am deeply perplexed that there was no such care, because the product could have been a masterpiece. Still, I recommend it for those who, like me, are not afraid to take a chance on works that, even if they are not polished, still offer a lot of fun.
