Gfinity's Reviews

The reason I play Hearthstone is because of the wild and unpredictable interactions that happen when the fantastic creativity of the design team is allowed to run wild. Unfortunately, most players are unable to experience it first-hand in the current Hearthstone Alterac Valley meta, but that doesn't make it less deserving of your time.

3 / 10.0 - Arcade Paradise
Aug 11, 2022

With bugs, crashes and far too much waiting around, Arcade Paradise really tries to capture some of the highs of old arcades but never really manages to understand the joy that comes from it.

It's a shame, but Matchpoint Tennis Championships just didn't quite get there on most aspects of its tennis simulation. A lack of licenced players and UI bugs only compound the core issues with the controls being far too simplistic and repetition setting in extremely quickly.

While the core racing and range of vehicles in MX vs ATV Legends are undeniably fun, the overall lack of polish and utterly disappointing online modes make it tough to recommend over its rivals.

4 / 10.0 - Sniper Elite 5
May 25, 2022

The sniping in Sniper Elite 5 is still as gruesomely satisfying as in previous games, but various aspects of the game’s design actively take the spotlight away from it, making for a clunky and frustrating shooter.

Battlefield 2042 is a game you need to have a squad alongside you to properly enjoy. It's just a shame many have been turned off from the game before it becomes the exciting simulation I know it can be. A lot of my friends have given up on it, but I don't want to just yet.

- Sifu
Feb 6, 2022

It all meshes together into a game that's far too difficult and without the satisfaction that comes from making progress in a difficult game. It's like bashing your head against the wall, and unlike other games with this approach, the wall isn't starting to crumble. The wall has grown a smug, laughing face as it prepares to take away one of your character's most important abilities, just in time for the final boss battle.

5 / 10.0 - Scars Above
Mar 2, 2023

Scars Above is an interesting toe in the water for many different genres but as you start to descend, you realise how shallow that puddle really is. An interesting world and decent elemental mechanics are held back by poor exploration and an unwillingness to push the boat out.

5 / 10.0 - Atomic Heart
Feb 22, 2023

Atomic Heart is an interesting approximation of better games that is slowed down by a tedious open world, messy writing, and jarring tonal shifts.

A Plague Tale: Requiem serves up a sprawling adventure across a plague-ravaged, rat-infested France, though the simple tale and mechanics at its core can’t bear this sequel’s bloat.

5 / 10.0 - NBA 2K23
Sep 21, 2022

NBA 2K23 on PC is a paradoxical game that purports to be channelling the spirit of Michael Jordan’s Bulls, only to end up more accurately mirroring the discordant energy of Scottie Pippen’s tenure with the Houston Rockets.

5 / 10.0 - Trek to Yomi
May 6, 2022

Trek to Yomi is a reverent homage to Kurosawa and samurai cinema that, while effortlessly stylish, only attempts to get weird with it on a superficial level.

I have no doubt that Dawn of Ragnarok will be enjoyable for some. In truth, however, it only takes a hesitant half-step towards offering a full fantasy experience, and in not committing fully, it ends up being a shallow expansion that does little to justify its price point or its existence.

6 / 10.0 - Wild Hearts
Feb 17, 2023

Though certainly one of the stronger hunting games to come from a rival, Wild Hearts might only truly shine with a sequel that will live or die by how players respond to its convoluted, but impressive, main gimmick.

6 / 10.0 - Forspoken
Feb 16, 2023

Forspoken is both ambitious, yet incredibly flawed. It pairs hammy dialogue and some poor pacing with a world I want to explore. Forspoken is a game tied between two worlds - losing out by never quite understanding either.

Lone Ruin is a game all about replayability that I saw little reason to replay after the credits.

The Witcher 3’s next gen update adds a great new quest, some snazzy armours, and litany of interesting tweaks to the game, but, on PC, it’s undermined by a parade of performance issues.

6 / 10.0 - Evil West
Nov 23, 2022

Evil West isn't a hugely complex game but it's fun enough to recapture both the nostalgia and fun of the early '00s. Though its story and performance can dip, its gameplay doesn't.

Although there are areas where 2022's Modern Warfare 2 excels in, the bug-filled and overly complicated parts of Infinity Ward's latest release overshadow what could be an excellent Call of Duty title.
