HomepageThe Game Crater's Reviews
Windfolk is a great game, with excellent flying, several gorgeous open environments to explore, an exciting and captivating narrative, and, on occasions, enjoyable combat.
CD Projekt Red has laid the foundation for serious potential but possibly should have waited until 2077 to release the game.
Blue Fire is an inconsistent masterpiece. It is incredibly enjoyable and offers moments of true brilliance but is often let down by its imprecise platforming and general shortcomings.
Everhood is an interesting experiment disguised as a game. While I enjoyed the gameplay's psychedelic nature, I found myself frustrated by the antiquated game design.
Forgotten Fields is a beautiful game that tells a heartwarming and painfully relatable narrative. While its gameplay can be shallow, and there were numerous visual bugs, Forgotten Fields' narrative is so strong and meaningful that I could overlook its various shortcomings.
Pepper Grinder is an enjoyable adventure brimming with excitement, challenges, and hidden treasures. Its innovative drilling mechanic, vibrant presentation, and engaging gameplay make for an extraordinary journey, albeit one that leaves players yearning for it to last longer. However, despite its minor flaws, Pepper Grinder stands as a thrilling escapade and a great indie title.
Dicefolk offers a unique and strategic experience with its dice mechanic and Chimera collection. However, short runs and limited enemy variety might hinder the experience for some. If you enjoy Slay the Spire and Pokemon and appreciate the challenge of roguelikes, Dicefolk might be worth checking out.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth blends nostalgia with innovation, appealing to both longtime fans and newcomers. The game impresses with its enhanced visuals and storytelling, setting a high bar for the adventure ahead, and it impresses with its satisfying combat mechanics, abundance of mini-games, and memorable soundtrack. While it navigates through some questionable story changes and occasional clunky exploration, Rebirth offers a rich and immersive experience. It skillfully tells a great story, making it a compelling play as it gears up for the trilogy's conclusion.
Persona 3 Reload is a remarkable remake, one that improves the majority of the original game while remaining entirely faithful to the source material.
Helldivers 2 offers players a bountiful amount of rich and engaging content, from varied and exciting missions to satisfying gunplay and engrossing progression systems.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown breathes new life into the beloved franchise by delivering a captivating 2D Metroidvania experience.
What Ubisoft Massive has accomplished is nothing short of incredible. While you may come away forgetting the villain’s name or even the reason why you were exploring this world, you’ll never forget what it felt like to fly your Ikran for the first time or step out into the lush world and soak it all in. Frontiers of Pandora is perhaps the best example of a game that exemplifies the saying, “It’s not the destination, but the journey that matters.
KarmaZoo brings a whimsical twist to the platforming genre by emphasizing cooperation, friendship, and good karma.
The Invincible is a phenomenal game that has done an excellent job translating a fantastic book into an even better video game. Its retro-futuristic art style compliments the concepts that it discusses, and there won’t be a moment during your playthrough where you’re not curious about what you’ll discover. I highly recommend The Invincible to anyone who enjoys narrative-driven sci-fi adventures.
Ghostrunner 2 improves and builds upon its predecessor in almost every single way. Its narrative, gameplay loop, and combat have been significantly fleshed out, and the addition of a roguelike mode and new motorcycle sequences make it a far more replayable and engrossing package overall.
Endless Dungeon is a wonderful addition to the roguelite family, with every aspect of the game full of detail, unlockables, upgrades, and lore that continue to keep you entranced as you dive into the Endless universe.
Boti: Byteland Overclocked delivers a classic 3D platformer experience with a modern twist, appealing to both tech-savvy players and those new to the genre.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is a refreshing revival of a series that has been in a deep sleep since 2013. The deep customization options and fast-paced mecha combat more than make up for the game's mediocre narrative.
Gerda: A Flame in Winter is an in-depth narrative adventure that teaches you about history while you uncover the secrets of the town. With its minor bugs, it still manages to keep you entranced in the narrative. Its true-to-life storytelling will keep you immersed and guessing with all the hard choices you make. Gerda: A Flame In Winter is perfect for history buffs and narrative story lovers.
Dave the Diver is an incredibly charming experience, offering players a somewhat repetitive gameplay loop fortunately saved by its wonderful characters. Its often time cosy atmosphere, offset ever so slightly by the visceral act of hunting fish, and engrossing sushi bar management gameplay kept me coming back for more, despite repetitive fetch quest objectives and ironically shallow fishing. Considering its very low price point, this gorgeous, hilarious, and extremely enjoyable experience is absolutely worth it, especially for all the sushi enthusiasts out there.
