Psychonauts 2 is an adventure I won’t forget anytime soon. It’s filled with moments of laughs, tears, and even some confusion, but that’s what makes it unique. Fans who have been waiting for this game since finishing the first game 16 years ago, you’re in for a real treat.
Monster Hunter Rise is the clear next-step in the entry and is right at home on the Nintendo Switch. A great online system and a beautiful-looking game thanks to the RE Engine provides an excellent experience for Monster Hunter fans new and old. Grab your weapon, eat a meal, restock your items, and head out because it’s time to hunt.
NEOGEO Pocket Color Selection Vol. 1’s timing has weird optics, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a quality compilation of underappreciated classics. The historical features are great, so is the emulation. And it helps that this is a pretty powerful set of games by themselves. The physical release is icing on the cake, and I hope this means the brand has been successful enough to keep things rolling.
Hitman 3 cements itself as one of the best stealth-action games on the market. With lessons learned from the first two games and the ability to import all of those levels into 3, it’s hard-pressed to find a game with as much attention to detail and freedom as this one.
Everything Inscryption does culminates into a gruesome and harrowing tale told through a simple but rewarding card game. Creator Daniel Mullins had a clear and concise concept for this game executed on the highest level.
Plot threads will pull you all over, mysteries lie just beyond reach, and getting to them is half the battle. Elden Ring promotes exploration and a sense of place. Each enemy, item, and piece of scenery is placed with purpose.
Overall, The Outer Worlds was the space RPG adventure I didn’t think I needed to experience before I jumped in. I was glad I was proven wrong through the first minutes of the game that once again showed me the RPG genre is almost unstoppable when done right.
It feels incredible to play and is designed to be a constantly upward ramp in both difficulty and execution. The basic tools and ideas it teaches you in its early stages come full circle when it has you running the gauntlet in its final sections of level
No matter if this is your first foray into the world of Advance Wars, or if you’re a veteran of the franchise, this is easily the best version of the original games. If you even slightly enjoy strategy games and own a Nintendo Switch, this is a no-brainer to snag as soon as you can.
In a sense, Street Fighter VI is the full package. It’s a three-course meal and then some, filling you up to the brim and serving you every dish on the dessert menu whether you’re ready for the check or not. It’s bursting with style, swagger, and abundant sophistication, and it’s the perfect entry for newcomers and veterans alike.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is an essential play for anyone that loves the idea of a good murder-mystery game. The story that unfolds is unlike anything else in the medium, and damn near everything about it is perfect.
A game you won’t be disappointed you played and something absolutely worth your time.
From the exquisitely designed stages that morph and meld as the combat reaches the highest points of the action to the revamped characters that you’ll find within this new version of the world, Mortal Kombat 1 may be my new personal favorite Mortal Kombat experience.
Dogtown completes the full Cyberware package that Cyberpunk fans have been waiting for.
Forza Motorsport is not only a massive step forward in quality for the franchise but for racing games in general. It's a new benchmark for other games to strive toward, both graphically and gameplay-wise, and the team at Turn 10 should be proud of what they brought to the table this time around.
Spider-Man 2 manages to one up the first game in every way while retaining an exciting Spider-Man story.
Dragon's Dogma 2 took what made the original title special and elevated it to such great heights that the game is a must-play for longtime series fans and newcomers alike. A standout of its genre that offers a unique and compelling experience that one ought not to miss out on.
The literature tells you you’re getting stronger and doing well, so do the people around you. But is that something you can perceive in the thick of it? All you can do is take it a day at a time, and do what you can. Am I talking about the game or real life? That question shows us Dreamscaper’s success at its thematic goals.
Scarlet Nexus, with its rambunctious and dynamic combat, crazy (but well told) story and awesome art design, is an easy standout in 2021.
If you’re looking for your next world to get lost in Death’s Door is one of the easiest recommendations I can make. Even after beating the game, there is a hefty post-game to dive into.
