Platinum Games and Team Ninja have resurrected this once-great 3D franchise for a new era.
Double Fine is back, and this time they're putting you in control of a sentient lighthouse.
How much someone loves Pokémon Legends: Z-A will really come down to how much they love Pokémon battles, versus getting to explore and catch new Pokémon. It's not that one gameplay element is better than the other — both have always existed within Pokémon — but it does make Legends: Z-A feel pretty refreshing now that catching Pokémon feels more ancillary, rather than being the game's primary objective. It's a fun, fresh take on the series' formula that really helps Pokémon Legends: Z-A set itself apart as one of the best entries yet.
The game the long-running series needed.
Absolum is a gorgeous build-crafting roguelite beat 'em up.
Little Nightmares continues to enchant fans.
Like a good sandwich, Carimara is satisfying.
The definitive wandering samurai experience.
I'll be playing Hades 2 for the rest of the year. It has its hooks in me, and unlike a lot of other genre staples, I haven't exhausted everything there is to do yet after a handful of runs. It's an excellent year for gaming, but it just got even better with the full release of this surefire classic.
I still don't know what the f stands for.
A proper follow-up for Kyle Crane
LEGO Voyagers is no more than it needs to be.
Borderlands 4's extensive endgame offerings and smooth co-op multiplayer experience will keep me coming back to the game for months on end. The series has officially returned to looter shooter glory with Borderlands 4.
I’m certain that Shape of Dreams will find its fans and treat them right, because roguelite debuts are rarely as content-rich, mechanically deep, or stable as this one; there’s even drop-in/drop-out co-op, a remarkably rare multiplayer boon.
Hollow Knight: Silksong has a long road ahead of it, and I'm ready to follow it on its entire journey. Whether that includes a swath of free updates just like the original game, or potential DLC, I'll be there. In fact, I'm still there, slowly chipping away at a 100% completion rate. I won't be putting this one down for weeks.
I may never be good enough to get on the leaderboards for the World Tournaments, but I can at least rock some Boom Golf with friends. And really, having fun just playing some golf with friends, or even solo, feels like the best way to experience Everybody's Golf Hot Shots, at least until I get good.
Bloober Team has clearly showcased its capabilities through the successful remake of Silent Hill 2. So, while Cronos: The New Dawn may not be the groundbreaking sci-fi horror that it or players were hoping for, there’s no denying that Bloober’s attempts to create something unique should still be celebrated, and personally, I’m still excited to see what comes next.
Admirable for both its consistently creative vision and risky ambiguity, Hell is Us is an intriguing expedition you’ll absolutely want to see through to the end, even if its ambition exceeds its grasp. Go in as cold as possible and do your best to avoid the deluge of online walkthroughs sure to come; you’ll discover a game that’s attempting something new and is excited to show it to you.
Still, if you haven't tried Kirby and the Forgotten Land yet, now is the perfect time to do so. You'll be able to experience the Star-Crossed World story in tandem with the core campaign, or ignore it entirely if you wish. Along with the enhanced Switch 2 performance, this modern Kirby classic will live on for another generation.
Gears of War: Reloaded feels like a title brought to PlayStation for its convenience, and while I think it will be a hit on its new platform, it feels like a dead end for audience growth.
