Kelly Packard's Reviews
Don't be fooled by the pretty visuals: Planet Alpha's gameplay is terrible, the whole thing goes on far too long, and it's a hodgepodge of haphazard mechanics and encounters to the point where it's impossible to tell what the game was supposed to be.
While the novelty is good for a few laughs, once that wears off, I Am Bread is a loaf of sourdough that's nine parts frustrating and one part fun.
It's an action RPG with no action, and it's just not fun.
Numantia's setting is unique, the story is interesting and allows you to make important choices, and the gameplay is challenging and strategic.
Think of the Children a niche recommendation to those dying for couch co-op experiences, but the game is a disaster for solo players.
Deadbeat Heroes is an average game that is made far worse by poor design choices.
SkyKeepers is going on the short list of Xbox games that are easy gamerscore but just aren't very good.
Ninjin: Clash of Carrots starts out as a silly, colorful beat 'em up, then takes a dark turn down a surprisingly frustrating and challenging path.
oOo: Ascension is a unique, 3D platformer with a couple major flaws that prevent it from reaching its fullest potential.
Hyper Sentinel is an exclusive club. Its simple fun can be enjoyed by outsiders, but the players who will appreciate it the most have played 1986's Uridium or other shoot 'em ups from the same time period.
Bridge Constructor Portal is still Bridge Constructor. The inclusion of GLaDOS, dark humor and Portal staples like gels, turrets and companion cubes will be appreciated by fans, but it's not enough to overcome the tedious core gameplay.
Telltale held the power to make it a memorable addition to the Telltale library, but they let it slip away.
Underneath its flaws, Rogue Trooper Redux is good, old-fashioned fun.
Once the whole series is released, Episode 3 won't be memorably bad, but when you've been waiting months to progress Guardians' story, it's a short and disappointing installment at best.
Young gamers are the target audience of Prospect Games' Unbox: Newbie's Adventure. There's nothing wrong with that, but there isn't much here to appeal to the older and more experienced gamer, something at which other kids' titles have succeeded.
Blue-Collar Astronaut is a space physics game that offers up its missions in mini-sized morsels. There are more than 40 levels, each of which has a variety of ways to play.
If shoot 'em ups are your thing, you're probably going to like this game, but to love it, you're going to have to enjoy the variety of other genres thrown into the mix.
Silence is a gorgeous game to see and hear. While it makes a bold attempt at an emotional and deep storyline, everything falls flat due to a failure to give the player a reason to care about the characters.
With only two game modes and six similar maps, even with the ability to play online, there just isn't a lot here to keep players captivated any longer than short-term.
Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered won't be winning any awards for Remaster of the Year, but blowing stuff up is still so much fun that it works. The explosive gameplay brings enjoyment to side, story and DLC missions.
