Immortals of Aveum is a game that I genuinely enjoyed every second I could play. It was well-paced, with fun and engaging gameplay. I want to love it but that love is limited by the fact I was unable to finish it.
A fantastical magic shooter epic with a smattering of light RPG elements, Immortals of Aveum combines enjoyable FPS combat, traversal, and exploration to great effect, making for a memorable, often spellbinding experience.
Immortals of Aveum is a blockbuster action game. Much like superhero movies, it excels in combat but loses its heat in the story with lackluster dialogue and a hurried narrative. The cornerstone of Immortals is its graphics. The characters and environments were expertly crafted, highlighting the strong motion-captured characters. It was always refreshing to see how all the colors were utilized in each mission of the game. Excellent level design and fast-paced gameplay made a wonderful pair.
Immortals of Aveum is a perfect game for a subscription service. It has its flaws, but most of them can be easily eliminated in the future. However, I can't shake the feeling that this game has been left for dead even though it is really cool.

Immortals of Aveum is a steadfast debut that will assuredly put its creators on the map. It combines strong combat mechanics with an engaging story set in an even more engrossing world to offer up a satisfying and complete experience. While the gear system and some console resolution issues might be off-putting for some, Immortals of Aveum is one of the most pleasant surprises in an already burgeoning year and a spellbinding adventure that's well worth your time.
This is Doom, mixed with Destiny, mixed with Control… and the result is pretty magical.
Immortals of Aveum has a unique magic-shooter gameplay, and many skills to go along with it that help the player fight a gorgeous and fluid battle. But other than that it's pretty mediocre in terms of both plot and level design.

Immortals of Aveum starts promising but quickly suffers a litany of flaws. It does have some good-looking visuals but is often awkward when it's not downright unwieldy to play.
It's always nice to see a new I.P. enter the market... especially one with impressive pedigree on the creative team and a new world rich with lore and excitement. Welcome to Immortals of Aveum.
The use of magic in a shooter is interesting indeed, even if the game lacks that little something that could have made it a journey to remember.

Both ambitious and novel, Immortals of Aveum is a solid first-person action experience, hampered by several minor issues and a narrative that fails to emotionally connect.
Immortals of Aveum comes at a time when games are almost like homework - they demand time and attention. They require you to almost put your life on hold and live a different, more exciting, and rewarding life in the vast virtual playgrounds they offer. This is not something to complain about — I look back fondly at the time when, for a good three months, I abandoned everything in my life to become an outlaw in the American Frontier when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out. Video games possess a transformative and teleporting power that frankly no other medium can replicate. But sometimes you don't need your games to be a full course meal. They're perfectly palatable as a snack. Immortals is that bite-sized biscuit that won't really leave a memorable flavour in your mouth, but will taste just fine, and be the exact kind of meal you need at that point. Right around the time when ambitious video games are showcasing the incredible depth they can offer, Immortals of Aveum represents a bygone simplicity and shallowness of the medium, that perhaps is just as important.
If you like simple shooters and want to mix it up with spellcasting magic, a bit of platforming, and minimal RPG elements; IoA is definitely a game you should pick up. I had a blast going through its various crusades and regardless of needing to know exactly what was going on half the time I managed to call several of the plot twists long before they happened.
It isn’t the biggest or the best game I’ve played all year, but Immortals of Aveum has been one of the most fun experiences I’ve had. If I had any real complaints, it’s that the story continually urges the player forward without any assurance that you’ll have time to explore later.
Aveum is a world that stands and falls on the power of magic. You will enjoy the magic fights, but you will still miss something. There is no reason to slander the game, it is just not distinctive enough to elbow its way to the forefront among the current top titles.
