Dave the Diver, like the sea, is far deeper than you think it is. It charms with its attractive visuals and addictive loop of diving for fish and running a restaurant, but it never rests on its laurels, always finding new ways to enhance the fun. There's never a dull moment, whether it's a whole new feature expanding the gameplay, an unexpected new story beat, or another hilarious cutscene to enjoy. It's this constant reinvention and surprise that makes the game so compelling, even through the occasional rougher moments. If you've yet to experience it for yourself, we'd highly encourage that you take the plunge.
Dave The Diver is a great adventure of underwater exploration, management and improvement that will make you smile at every new step you take in its proposal. RPG and roguelike elements come together to create something different, original and very fun that goes beyond, far beyond what its simple appearance seems to indicate.

It might not come as a surprise, but Dave the Diver is just as good on PlayStation as it is elsewhere. If you're yet to experience this intoxicating combination of scuba, sushi and silly mini-games, there's really never been a better time – especially because you can snag it as part of a PlayStation Plus Extra subscription.

I would strongly recommend Dave the Diver to anyone who enjoys adventure/explorer games – especially if they are fans of retro graphics and some really daft, but excellent, comedy. Having already sunk a good 25-hours into the game, I still feel like I have so much more to do and am really looking forward to seeing what other surprises I can unearth. So come on, jump in! The water is warm… and there’s only a few sharks.
DAVE THE DIVER is a fun dive into a mysterious ocean locale. The game really comes to life on the Nintendo Switch. While some might wish there was just a bit more, it has more than enough content to keep a person busy for a good long while. You can get completely lost simply exploring the ocean without doing any hunting, provided supplies for Bancho’s Sushi are stocked up.
The combination of genres in DAVE THE DIVER is as unexpected as it is effective. One part of the game consists of the management and administration of a small sushi restaurant and the other part will be focused on diving in a giant and quite deep pit to obtain the fish that will later be cooked and sold in the restaurant. The premise seems simple but hours of fun await us and we will be given the option to delve into its gameplay as much as we want. DAVE THE DIVER is one of the most interesting indies of the year and you have to try it without hesitation.

Every aspect of DAVE THE DIVER is well-designed and functional, adding more to the gameplay. There is no denying the affection that MINTROCKET and NEXON have for this game, as seen by the fact that it is a wonderful and incredibly addicting game. You can't help but be enchanted by the meticulous attention to detail, the stunning visual style, and the heavenly soundtrack. Even if you do not usually like this genre, you should definitely check out DAVE THE DIVER because it's unique.
Dave the Diver is a massive game but looks like it isn't. Its campaign takes well over 20 hours with an addicting gameplay mix of action, RPG, and restaurant management while constantly introducing new and fun gameplay mechanics. It keeps switching things up and always gives you exciting activities to engage in while delivering a gripping story. Get this title on your radar because Dave the Diver is a delight to play.

Dave the Diver deserves all the attention it has already received. It's a charming and addictive game. An experience which, despite a rather simplistic central conflict, manages to constantly surprise the audience with its ton of mechanics and varied, easy-to-grasp content. Dave the Diver is successfully combines two very different genres. The deep-sea diving is action packed, full of exploration and a great soundtrack. The restaurant-sim side is put together in a way that’s challenging without being overwhelming. I highly recommend this title!

Thanks to its multi-genre approach, engaging diving and business simulation mechanics, wealth of content, and striking 2.5D visuals, it's one of the best indie titles of the year. It's not a perfect game — its crowded, everything-but-the-kitchen-sink philosophy makes sure of that — but it's one that's absolutely worth diving into.
Dave the Diver is a complete package of a full-sized game, designed to be enjoyed in the most relaxing mood that will give you the taste of experiencing thrill and adventure in the first half and drive your management brain cells to their max in the other half. Backed with an impressive storyline and much extra content, Dave the Diver exceeds its value for money. However, the grind will become repetitive after a while, and you may need more clarification about things for which the game does not elaborate well.
Dave the Diver is a wonderful dip into the ocean. For me, this was the game that kept on giving. With so many options during gameplay, I could not honestly cite a point where I felt bored. Dives were wonderous with plenty to explore and seek, whether it was finding new fish or discovering something sinister in the depths. Running the restaurant was also much more fun than I expected, far from a throw-away mini-game but an in-depth management sim. Either of these two elements of gameplay would make a great game but on top of all that, you have all the little surprises that make this something I could not recommend enough.
Dave the Diver is a really fun experience with two disparate but complementary mechanics. With its quirky characters and a ridiculous main story that investigates the mystery behind the Blue Hole, it is a great indie game that will keep you engaged through its many mechanics and almost never-ending content until you're finished with the story or when you're ready to move on from catching fish and serving sushi. Dave the Diver is a breath of fresh air for the indie scene, especially for the highly saturated genre of roguelites. By adding the restaurant management mechanic to an enjoyable and addictive story loop, Mintrocket Games has a winner in their hands.
