Winter Survival already has trouble standing out among its competitors this quarter. However, its foundation needs a lot of work, and the available content alone makes it hard to recommend.
In short, Winter Survival is a disappointing and frustrating experience. If you’re looking for a challenging and engaging survival experience, stick with “The Long Dark” and skip what feels like a lackluster imitation at this time. I believe with more polish the game could stand out more and become a better experience, but the building and crafting won’t help win over an already loyal fan base to the genre, and that of The Long Dark.
Winter Survival is honestly a complete waste of time. The story might give you some initial intrigue. However, the stiff gameplay mixed with unreasonable survival mechanics leads to a frustrating experience that will deter you from being able to make significant progress. Do yourself a favour and pass on this one!
