Classified: France '44 does so much right; historical authentic tactical combat, tense decision-making, and a minimal amount of stealth. Naff Stereotype-driven characters and technical issues aside, this is a confident and assured debut from Absolutely Games.

As a relatively modest strategy title, Classified: France '44 accomplishes much more than you might think considering its rather low-key pre-release reception. Anybody who is up for a good lean tactical strategy game is in for quite a treat here, as Classified delivers an experience that gives you a good hearty taste of what a simple and effective strategy game should be, while adding new and forward-thinking features that address some of the qualms of the genre. The new Morale system is a novel new mechanic that adds a layer of depth to strategy, the missions are good and place emphasis on smart strategic play, and although the story and personalities fall short, the illustrated cutscenes are an admirable embellishment that gives Classified its own distinctive panache. Classified might seem rather plain and ordinary to many, and yes it does represent itself in that fashion, but underneath there is a compelling and satisfying strategy title here that's worth a look for anybody who is intrigued and wants to get rid of hordes of virulent Nazi scum in L'Hexagone.
In the case of Classified, we are not talking about a brilliant, innovative concept of the genre of turn-based strategies, but rather about a solid use of already used and well-known mechanics and tools. Overall, the word "solid" describes the game perfectly.

Although it has a little too much XCOM influences, we have a turn-based strategy in our hands that gives a good World War II atmosphere. It has some shortcomings in some points, but this does not change the fact that Classified France '44 is a good game. Anyone who likes XCOM will find something to enjoy.

Classified: France '44 exceeded my expectations as it provides a genuine-feeling WWII campaign along with some rewarding twists.
Counting down to D-Day, you guide a group of Special Forces and French Resistance through Northwest France in an attempt to derail Nazi-Germany. The turn-based tactical squad missions are familiar all the way back to X-Com, but several new tactics have been added. Thanks to a new morale system, every shot counts, even when missed, taking away one of the biggest frustrations of the genre. Classified: France '44 isn't without fault, but will please fans of the genre with fresh ideas.

Absolutely Games makes its debut in the videogame world with Classified: France '44, a solid proposal with XCOM-style turn-based tactical combat, enriched with RPG elements. A title that maintains a good balance between stealth and action, variety of missions and a robust gameplay.

Unless you’re looking at a little variety in your gaming diet, or you really love tactics games, then you might want to think twice before enlisting.
What Classified: France ’44 does well, it does very well. Everything else lands somewhere in the B- range. For that reason, it’s hard for me to give a strong recommendation for the general public like I would with something like Fire Emblem: Three Houses. But for those who enjoy tactics games or historic settings this is a winner, just maybe not at full price.
Classified France '44 is just an incredibly well-rounded experience. While the scenario is entirely fictional, the characters feel like real people. The game features a distinct level of polish seen throughout, from environments to sound design; a lot of effort has been put into this game. However, despite the game's in-depth tutorial, it isn't exactly for beginners or newcomers to the turn-based strategy genre.
Classified: France '44 is a strong debut from Absolutely Games that's worth a go if you're looking for hours of well-designed turn-based combat, varied missions and encounters, and a highly replayable campaign. However, it doesn't quite hit the potato masher on the head when it comes to exploring its WWII setting and creating a narrative about the human cost of war.
Classified: France '44 is rather good as both a turn-based combat experience and an exploration of one of history's darkest periods. Whether you are sneaking around taking down Nazis from the shadows or heading in guns blazing, the game is fun and decently complex, with enough variety in terms of units to recruit and factions to side with to encourage multiple playthroughs. While the missions themselves start to blend together after a while, and the soundtrack could have stood to throw in one or two new battle themes for the sake of variety, I think any fan of history or turn-based combat is going to have a rather good time with Classified: France '44, and I look forward to Absolutely Games hopefully building on this foundation with future games exploring different periods and settings.
