64hoops Silent Hill f Review

Great game. This doesn’t eclipse the perfection of SH2 remake, but still a memorable experience that has the same amazing aspects of SH2.
One thing that I actually love more than SH2 remake is the visuals. The addition of color with the “Silent Hill Fog” blends beautifully with the industrial town and the luscious greenery. Even with that extra color, it’s still scary as S***, (Those scarecrows are the worst, iykyk) I would argue also that the story is just as strong as well! Hinako’s character is such an interesting analysis on the postwar era of Japan, and how different the culture is from western society.
One thing that I can’t stand with this game (And others) is the fact that I need to play the full game more than once to get the “true” ending. I’m all for multiple endings, but if I need to do multiple playthroughs to get the “true ending”, it’s frustrating.
Also, the combat is very hit or miss. While I don’t mind Hinako’s attack moves (the focus mechanic is actually pretty fun to use!) the dodging mechanics feel sluggish and inconsistent. It can get frustrating when trying to perfect parry’s and dodges when those only work sometimes….
But overall, great game! For a small studio to create a game that lives up to the perfection of its previous iterations, they did an amazing job! Can’t wait to see what this studio makes next.
