Arnieduke Deliver Us Mars Review

Some parts of this game are great, some are really not. Starting with tech, I experienced some serious lagging when entering new areas, even on a high-end system. Graphics are great most of the time but in some areas they look very much behind the times, especially the animations. Gameplay is at times frustrating during the action scenes. The story is generally intriguing but a little confusing and too fast tracked. Dropping some more info into the environment would have been nice like being able to access computer logs that provide additional info. A lot of other games do that better. The environments are also devoid of things to interact with besides the immediate goals. Some of the riddles are outright annoying and made me shake my head, others are very straightforward. Voiceover acting is good, although I found the main characters to lack depth. As a character I found the dad especially disappointing and spineless. He just stands around most of the story and is speechless. Regardless of all of the above, the game still kept me motivated until the end and took me less than 12 hours in total.
