Bitek75 Scars Above Review

Surprisingly solid game. This one was never on my radar, I stumbled across it completely by accident. As a lifelong sci‑fi addict, I grabbed it on a whim after watching a bit of gameplay and skimming some reviews. Honestly, it turned out far better than I expected. The art direction has a touch of Kena: Bridge of Spirits, but the real inspiration is clearly Returnal, and Dead Space and in a good way. The mysterious atmosphere, the combat rhythm, the protagonist’s journey, the eerie soundtrack, the difficulty curve, it all feels like the developers took cues from Returnal , Dead Space and even from Control and reinterpreted them through their own lens. I love discovering these smaller, under‑the‑radar projects. There’s something refreshing about seeing what a team can do with limited resources but a lot of passion. Scars Above is a great example of that: a focused, well‑executed game made by people who genuinely care about their craft. By no means, this is a perfect game. It has some issues here and there. If you are like me playing this game with a controller, make sure to set Controller Aim Assist to Strong. I highly recommend it, especially for some of the boss fights. I’m honestly burned out on bloated AAA releases that launch half‑broken or try to justify their budgets with unnecessary complexity. If you want something straightforward, sci‑fi flavored, with solid shooting and a narrative structure reminiscent of Returnal and Dead Space, this is absolutely worth your time. A cool game, and a pleasant surprise
