Bitek75 Pragmata Review
Apr 21, 2026
Pragmata surprised me in the best way. I went in with modest expectations, and the more I play, the more impressed I am. It feels like Returnal blended with a touch of Dead Space, all wrapped in Capcom’s signature polish.
It’s essentially a “lite” roguelike. You push through zones, clear enemies, grab upgrades, return to the Shelter to enhance weapons and hacking skills, then jump back in with everything reset. The loop is tight and addictive.
The Returnal influence shows in the weapon slot system. You get four slots, each tied to specific weapon types, so you’re constantly choosing what to keep or drop. It adds real strategy, especially when enemy types force you to rethink your loadout mid‑run.
Capcom absolutely nailed this new IP. It’s not as punishing as Returnal, but it’s still engaging, stylish, and satisfying. The heart of the game is the dynamic between Diana and Hugh, giving it that wholesome “dad and daughter in space” energy that elevates everything around it.
I expected the shooting and hacking combo to feel overwhelming, but it’s surprisingly intuitive. You’re juggling decisions constantly, yet it makes you feel clever rather than stressed.
And the PC port is outstanding. No stutters, no shader issues, no waiting for a patch. On Nvidia hardware with Path Tracing maxed, it runs incredibly smoothly. The lighting and atmosphere feel genuinely next‑gen, not a tech demo trick.
Capcom delivered something special. If you enjoy sci‑fi, action, or that Dead Space vibe without the crushing dread, this is absolutely worth your time. The full game surpasses the demo in every way.
