canni Life is Strange: Double Exposure Review

PLOT
It felt like the authors forgot what they were trying to tell along the way.
There are several major plot holes, inconsistencies, and the story makes no real sense in the end.
Clues found are pointless, as they neither change the story nor the dialogue choices.
Sometimes the player's knowledge was even ahead of the game's design, so dialogue made no sense and there was no way to prevent any outcome. There were so many open questions at the end that it felt like the writers didn't want to deal with a (non-)linear story at all.
CHARACTERS
Max's character development is at least somewhat believable and understandable, as is the formation of new friendships. However, we hardly get to know any of the other characters in depth, some of them at least had potential, but the dialogues felt forced. Also, every place feels unfinished and lacking in life, unimportant characters just sit or stand around in the already few locations, sometimes moving their mouths even when they literally have nothing to say. The characterisation of people changed, not because of alternate realities, but because of bad writing.
POWER AND CHOICES
We were given a lot of choices that were completely irrelevant. So much more could have been made of the power if it had been cleverly tied into the story, but in this game: the power just existed and was played with, never narratively connected in a way that would be relevant to major plot points. However, the fixed transitions seemed to be there more for technical reasons and to better control the story.
