Captaincool Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Review

Mixed bag on this. Will start with the good. Samus has literally never looked cooler, her 2 new suits are sleek and great visually. The scenery and graphics are very sharp (except for the place we all know they aren't). The combat is a decent fare for the genre and series. Now for the bad. The structure of the game and its story is all over the place in a bad way. You enter the open world and they tell you to choose your next dungeon, well thats a lie cause you need this chip from here to get this from there and it results in a lot of backtracking. Even just to get new elemental beams you have to go ALL the way back to the hub area which includes multiple transition cutscenes and a lot of dead time in the game. There is a clear lack of inspiration in the abilities and upgrades, you get the 3 main elemental beams (whatever), and the regular variety of the usual upgrades. The side characters were annoying to me but you can kind of just ignore them.
