Chamballs Final Fantasy XVI Review

The only final fantasy game in the franchise I have not particularly enjoyed, Straying too far from what makes this franchise so appealing to me. It makes for an interesting movie as the cutscenes looked fabulous, however I found myself skipping many of them as I just to wanted to get the finished as the gameplay was lacking in the fun department. Combat was boring, easy, time consuming, and unrewarding besides from boss fights, so much so that I began to avoid them just to progress faster. Unfortunately, mashing X is not fun mechanic. The gameplay was highly bloated I thought, lots of side quests seeming to waste time than providing anything of use. The weapon and armour upgrading system was almost pointless, you never felt any stronger because the upgrades were so minor along with the enemies levelling to negate any improvement. I was excited when this game came to Xbox, considering the raving reviews. This is a game in the franchise that I will not be returning to any time soon, if I ever do.
