Chrome Silent Hill f Review

Some say this game is not Silent Hill. I, however, disagree. It is a Silent Hill, just a really bad one.
You probably know everything regarding the combat already, but just in case you don't: it's a really broken mess. And unlike the classic entries, it breaks immersion, forces itself onto the game and makes the game generally unplayable.
Now, a bunch of words about story. It's not woke, as many mention, but rather lacks good execution. The concept itself is good, but how they executed it... Unrealistic dialogue, which sometimes matches RE1 voice-acting quality, in-face narrative which thinks players are morons, anime-moments in a bad way, and the requirement to play the game for multiple times to see the whole story. That would be fine for a visual novel(The writer actually made a lot of those), but not for Silent Hill. Additional runs are additional content by definition, not essential. The fact that the game is written by a visual novelist also fits vell with the fact that it relies too much on notes.
Oh, right, it's also a horror game! My apologies, I've forgot about that. You see - the game is not scary, thrilling, or dreadfully-atmospheric at all. Developers rely too much on jumpscares, including the cliche ones, and gory-shock content. From that perspective, the game is not a psychological horror, rather a wanna-be shock-content horror, since in case you are an experienced horror-fan - you will be disappointed.
Alright, I think I've said enough. So why exactly is it just a bad silent hill game? The answer - it tries to be Silent hill of all the upper layers(moster symbolism, fog, etc. ), but completely misses the larger picture. And all the "bold" new direction - honestly, it feels like it's here just to be here, it doesn't serve any other purpose. And it also makes the game lose on of iconic features that Silent Hill partially owes it's success to - being a unique blend of American, almost Stephen King-like horror with Japanese culture.
Well, that's it. I could talk more about some really moronic decisions of the dev team, but that would be spoiling. If you liked the game - I'm glad for you, even envious you are able to be scared by something like this. I do not share the optimism.
