ChronoSee Hollow Knight: Silksong Review
Oct 16, 2025
The most mechanically engaging game I might have ever played.
It took me a little over a month to get the "true ending".
First time in my life when my hands were sore, bones hurt and my mind was entirely focused on the challenge of beating the next boss/traversing the next labyrinth.
At first I couldn't shake the feeling that the first game was miles better and it took around 25h for me to get it.
Hornet is much more skillful, agile and fast. It just takes time to feel like you can control the character the way you want.
The reward? I've never seen myself fighting bosses in such a beautiful, dynamic, reactive and smooth way.
You get in this groove where the boss stops being the difficult challenge ahead but starts to be the partner who teaches you how to grow.
When it clicks the fights feel more like coordinated dances you never thought you were good enough to pull off. Like something from a choreographed trailer - not real gameplay.
Whatever burden the devs put you through up to that point seems irrelevant, all the anger disappears because you grew, because you dance, and hit and dodge and die and die and die again.
It doesn't matter anymore, because you know you will win eventually and the dance is what feels amazing, winning is just a bonus.
