clockrocket Marvel's Wolverine Review

Sep 21, 2026
The initial journalist reviews almost put me off from this game. But I went ahead and picked it up anyway. I am glad that I did! I should note that X-Men is my favorite comic book series and Wolverine has been one of my favorite comic book characters since the 90s. And ultimately, that is why I decided to give this game a go, despite the reviews. Is this game of the year material with a deep story? No. Is it perfect, no. Do all the faces look really weird and some of the voice acting is a little meh? YES! But the heart of this game is exactly what I wanted. You get to be Wolverine in a brawler. You just go berserk during missions. Combat is fun, especially once you start getting leveled up. The side content is fun too. The story is familiar if you have been reading comics since the 90s. Lots of fun Easter eggs too if you take the time to explore and read. This isn't a difficult game at all. It does direct you around and the exploration is limited. But I don't think that was a mistake. The game is about pace, you are moving from thing to thing very quickly. Even the sections where you slow down are still pretty well paced and you keep moving along. And to me, this keeps the interest level high and it gets you to the fun parts pretty fast. Again, this is not game of the year material, but it is a genuine blast to be Wolverine in this game. However, it is a bit on the short side. But so were Pragmata and RE Requiem, and those were excellent games. Wolverine isn't my game of the year. But it is one of my favorite games this year. And its short enough that if I get the itch, I wouldn't mind blasting through it again on NG+.
