Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remains an exceptionally high-quality title that has aged remarkably well and still doesn’t hold back even today. The game captivates both longtime fans and newcomers alike. Numerous quality-of-life features, the new soundtrack, and its picture-book-like visuals successfully bring Paper Mario 2 into the modern era. The controller felt almost glued to my hands, and despite having played the title multiple times back in the day, I still couldn’t put it down. This is clearly Nintendo’s RPG hit of the year!

For me, Operation Galuga has reignited my passion for Contra, and I believe many longtime fans of the series will immediately feel at home as well. The difficulty level is moderate for Contra veterans, though it will still make you curse at certain points. The strong selection of stages and music is sure to make any fan’s heart beat faster, and the multiplayer experience in particular feels excellent.

Like a fine ancient artifact, Tomb Raider I–III has been almost perfectly restored for modern consoles. All content is included, and as a newcomer you can easily expect 60–70 hours of gameplay. If you aim to uncover every secret, it will take even longer. Each level averages around 20–40 minutes. Despite some dated mechanics and ‘hard-to-spot’ keys, the games have aged well and remain accessible—especially when using the updated controls and improved visuals.

Terra Nil is an unusual game that follows a completely different concept from other strategy titles. It achieves this through small, self-contained areas that serve as your playground for restoring flora and fauna. However, with only four regions available, the enjoyment can fade quickly for long-time strategy fans. Even after completing the game, Terra Nil offers limited replay value for those looking to fully complete everything.

Nintendo has taken the core foundation and adapted the game as sensibly as possible to modern RPG standards, without sacrificing too much of its nostalgia. This balancing act has been successfully achieved, and the remake—previously not available in German—renders the original obsolete. Players who are not familiar with the title in the first place will not even realize that it was originally a SNES game.

As I had already thoroughly played the title during the PlayStation 1 era, I can confidently say that Square Enix has delivered a fantastic remake. Separate difficulty modes for subsequent playthroughs, two entirely distinct story paths, and numerous new late-game features round out the overall experience. Claude would put it like this: a solid 9 out of 10.

The controls feel intuitive right from the start, but the game is relatively easy in terms of difficulty and can be completed 100% within just a few hours. The online mode works without issues and adds some replay value. Anyone who enjoys arcade racers will definitely not go wrong with Horizon Chase 2. However, fans of Mario Kart may want to steer clear of this title.

A challenging platformer with a retro aesthetic—something that anyone considering the title should be aware of. However, the game feels very well optimized overall and runs smoothly on Nintendo Switch. Chris Hülsbeck also contributes a fantastic soundtrack, which for me alone would almost have been a reason to buy the game. Tiny Thor is a small hidden gem for all fans of classic-style platformers.

Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse is a great game in the series and will definitely keep you glued to your console. Fans of the genre should definitely check it out. The puzzles are well-designed and logical, and sometimes require a lot of thought. If you've never played a point-and-click adventure before, you might want to watch a few videos about the game first.

Although the games are quite old and seem a bit unfair in some places, they’re still three very entertaining games even today. The presentation has been updated to suit modern technology, allowing Crash Bandicoot to shine in a whole new light. And especially for the very reasonable price, you get a lot of content here and can also enjoy the game on the go.

The graphics, sound, and gameplay are truly impressive. However, the difficulty level and length of the game are certainly open to criticism. Milan offers a very interesting atmosphere and invites you to play. If you're looking for a short but solid action game, you should definitely give Milanoir a try. Even though it's so short, you'll still have a lot of fun with it. You're also welcome to take on the higher difficulty levels.
