5 / 10 - Drancia Saga
Aug 7, 2017

Drancia Saga is simple, fun and accessible, featuring an 8-bit style visual environment and some well implemented RPG elements. If only the same could be said for the overall quality of the conversion to the 3DS, its use of the console's capacities, lifespan and its price tag, compared to the lack of it in the original mobile format, this would be a highly recommended game.

Parascientific Escape: Crossing at the Farthest Horizon may not be the richest visual novel ever made but it's interesting and competent at what it does, mostly thanks to its multiple endings plot and all the right elements to appeal to fans of the genre. It doesn't turn out to be a masterpiece, as it could feature more puzzles and correct some of its writing mistakes but it's certainly an interesting choice in the 3DS catalog.

Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon do not deserve to be labelled as mere improvements or buildups over their predecessors. The likely last Pokémon games to be released on the 3DS are the epitome of Nintendo's hallmark adventure on the handheld system thanks to their immense content, audiovisual experience and overall sense of adventure. An absolute must have set of games for all owners of a 3DS.

It may feel too simple at certain moments but overall, Detective Pikachu proves to be a fun and inclusive game that can even find a place with players who are not fans of Pokémon in the first place.

With lots of content and some good cutscenes, it's not a groundbreaking game but it's appealing and it could be even more fun if its online multiplayer was not affected by cases of lag.

Shadow of Loot Box is based on an interesting premise that intends to satirize some questionable elements of the contemporary games industry. The problem is this idea does not quite come to fruition and after a promising opening stage, the experience quickly comes down to a dull, over-simplistic, underperforming gameplay and in the end, this FPS with RPG elements turns out to be a rather lacklustre effort with few attractive points.

Little Town Hero may be an RPG but its most relevant and memorable aspect is not the plot or even the development, it's the combat system - original, interesting and challenging, Little Town Hero mostly lives for its combats. It doesn't stretch the game's soul much further than this, though, as the experience is too short, the plot feels too common and uninspired and the overall game could have been much more ambitious. There's enough here to captivate fans of JRPG games but to expand beyond that, Little Town Hero needs to improve on several key aspects.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 continues the line that brings the two iconic series to the Olympic Games. This time with the addition of a 2D retro-style element, which is certain to appeal to old school players and the return of motion controls. While the game's main plot can only be played solo, there's enough here to provide for some fun moments, especially with other players in the mix.

Just Dance 2020 does not differ from other games in the series in the sense that it's fun, enjoyable and has enough content and music for many intense moments. At the same time, Just Dance 2020 is too similar to its immediate predecessors to stand out and beyond a small number of new elements, there are not too many reasons to purchase this latest edition of the Just Dance series for those who own the last titles released on the Nintendo Switch.

Delivering an experience that is fun and whose greatest asset lies on the mutiplayer component, both local and online and up to four players, Castle Crashers Remastered is less compelling when it becomes too repetitive and its difficulty turns too artificial but nevertheless, it is a fun experience to enjoy and a good beat'em-up.
