7.5 / 10.0 - Grand Kingdom
Jul 1, 2016

If you embrace everything, Grand Kingdom is a cheerful, relaxing, thoughtful experience. Character design is beautiful, with a lot of variety and just enough animation to give even the blacksmiths some bounce and personality. You can take you time with the game. Dig through the menus, try different class combinations, and win your wars, one battle at a time.

7.4 / 10.0 - Mad Max
Sep 14, 2015

Max, in the game, could be anyone. There's no story. He's just a reason to drive around a desert, crashing into things, blowing things up, and fighting. Not that I've got anything against that. Mad Max provides plenty of enjoyable hours of crashing into things and fighting. But, for a desert wasteland there is an awful lot of gasoline, I never got close to running out.

7.3 / 10.0 - F1 2015
Jul 26, 2015

So, F1 2015 is not a big, fun, flashy arcade racer. It could never be. Not while its main purpose is to be a serious and realistic representation of Formula 1. Unfortunately, it also suffers from the same problem that has plagued all sports sims when they first appear on the eighth generation consoles. There is a distinct lack of content.

A jarring contrast between epic beauty and controller destroying frustration.

It’s slow, deliberate, complicated and, without any cynicism, that may be the best thing about Don Bradman Cricket 17.

7.1 / 10.0 - WWE 2K17
Nov 8, 2016

There is plenty for fans of wrestling to like in WWE 2K17. There is a lot that I found enjoyable. While I’ve been on the verge of giving the game the people’s elbow, especially sitting through the long load times and when I lost a match because I couldn’t tag back into a tag team match; it’s a ‘tag’ team match, and I couldn’t figure out how to ‘tag’. It’s in the bloody stupid title. But, I’m going to keep playing. I love all the bluster, all the blood, and I want to eventually get a win by submission. And I will keep playing until I finally get Mr. Perfect to win the Royal Rumble.

[A]side from difficulty finding a quick match, and the fact that it's a year old game that looks a lot older as it's being sold at full price, Don Bradman Cricket offers plenty for those that don't have the 2014 version.

5.5 / 10.0 - NHL 15
Oct 2, 2014

I have always enjoyed EA's NHL games, and what there is of NHL '15 works. But, it's not what's there that's the issue, it's what's missing. And, for what's missing EA Sports needs to spend a lot of time in the penalty box.

Admittedly, a port of a fantastic and iconic game. Get it if you want, don't get it if you have any sense. Just be sure to have some cash left over for Street Fighter V next year, and all the other versions that Capcom are going to try to sell you in the years to come.
