Chris White's Reviews

I write about video games for God is a Geek. I'm a pretty cool guy, just ask my mum.

It's a lot of fun, and you're never stuck for something to do. It's also the perfect game to play with your friends and family, and the sheer amount of characters means there's someone for everyone.

6 / 10.0 - Danger Zone

Whilst it may not encapsulate the wonder of Burnout's Crash mode, it's still quite fun, and will give you something to do for a few hours.

It's great to have some new content for Horizon, and this piece of DLC certainly does it justice.

7 / 10.0 - Path Out

Tackling a topic like Syria is difficult, but not when it's created by a refugee of the civil war. Abdullah Karam tells his story with surprising humour, and while that doesn't always work, it still results in the beginnings of a unique war story.

If you're looking for a game you can pick up and play, as well as making you smile, this is certainly one to consider.

The series has managed to reinvent itself, all whilst still keeping the heart of the series intact. Bayek is a great character, and the open world of Egypt is remarkable.

7.5 / 10.0 - WWE 2K18
Oct 17, 2017

Whilst there are some changes, it doesn't feel that different from last year, and the technical issues hinder enjoyment somewhat.

A great sequel with much more going on, and is built with a lot of love and respect for the series it comes from.

Everything about this game outdoes the first, and with the expanded Nemesis System, superb combat, and epic story, you'll be immersed for a long time.

7.5 / 10.0 - NBA Live 18
Oct 2, 2017

Whilst it may not be the complete package, it does a lot right and has a new and sturdy foundation to build the future of the series on.

It's difficult to get excited about Telltale Games at the moment, but this has me hooked and I can't wait for the next episode.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Videogame is a lot of fun, but the camera angles are diabolical in co-op, detracting from the fun that playing with someone normally brings. The story is weak, but the humour more than makes up for it, and the diverse combat feels great to control, especially when racking up a 100-hit combo.

8 / 10.0 - Splasher

If you love a challenge, and appreciate fantastic level design, this is most definitely for you.

9 / 10.0 - NBA 2K18

If you're looking for not only the greatest basketball game but the greatest sports game in existence, this is definitely it. A huge improvement on last year, let down only by its weak attempt at a story mode.

7.5 / 10.0 - NHL 18
Sep 18, 2017

It's still a great hockey game, and NHL Threes is a great addition, but beyond that it's very much the same game as last year's.

Sep 13, 2017

It's incredibly ambitious, but without spending hours upon hours building a safe haven to protect you from the brutality of PvP, the single player feels a bit redundant without anyone to play with.

PES 2018 is the silkiest and smoothest looking football game I've ever played, with textures and player animation integrated perfectly. The pitches are gorgeous – as are the stadiums, and the rate at which the game moves, and blends player reactions after a shot or goal celebration is seamless.

It may be different to the other games in the MH series, but Stories is a lot of fun, and the JRPG mechanics are enjoyable, providing lots of different scenarios in its combat.

8.5 / 10.0 - Knack 2
Sep 5, 2017

If you're looking for a great platformer to play on your own or with friends, this is the one for you. It's fun and it looks gorgeous, filled with combat that provides lots of options to defeat the goblins and the robots.

8.5 / 10.0 - Last Day of June

There's a fantastic story here, filled with some great concepts and plenty of poignancy, ready to make you question the importance of life.
