GREAT - Retake your planet back from your wayward father in this action sci-fi epic filled to the brim with double bass kicks and guitar riffs. Just don’t head bang your Switch, okay?
GOOD - This might be the best monster battling game on the Switch, at least for a few more weeks. If you absolutely can’t wait until the new Pokémon games release it’s worth it to hangout in the Digital World for a little while and spend some time with some digital critters on the DigiFarm.
GOOD - I’ve had a lot of fun with Pokémon Sword exploring the Wild Area and catching fully evolved Pokémon wandering around there. There are plenty of issues and it’s far from perfect. Despite that it’s still enjoyable to jump back into the wonderful world of Pokémon with Arcanine by my side.
GREAT - Another awesome blast from the past finds its way onto the Nintendo Switch with the release of Sega Ages Shinobi. Now you can experience the brutally difficult world of ninja master Joe Musashi anywhere you like. Also you can just take it easy and experience a less difficult version with the ability to rewind time. Get your quarters ready.
GREAT - Doom 64 is as fun to play today as it was back on the Nintendo 64, while looking better than ever. If you’re looking for a mindlessly entertaining way to pass the time until you can play Doom Eternal on the Switch this might be the best remedy for you.
WORTH CONSIDERING - One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 lets you live out your wildest One Piece fever dream of crushing enemies as God Usopp, but the action grows stale after short time and after awhile you realize you’d much rather just be watching the anime again for the third time.
EXCELLENT - The latest entry in the Ninja Storm franchise continues to build upon what the popular series is known for: over the top ninja action. If you’re a fan of Naruto you won’t be disappointed. This one doesn’t miss.
GREAT - Racing around the city at blinding speeds is just as fun today as it was 12 years ago. Burnout Paradise City is a shining example of how to do a Switch port right. The $50 price tag is a bit hard to swallow, but the insane fun found here is undeniable.
GREAT - Another amazing Switch port arrives in Catherine: Full Body, a must-play for fans of dark romantic thrillers. Just don’t take relationship advice from Vincent, all right?
GOOD - Carrion is a fun reverse-horror game that could have been much better than it is with a few simple fixes, but what we got is still pretty good. Stalking humans and slithering around feels as great as it sounds.
GREAT - With over 30 tracks to rock out to and plenty of ways to play, Double Kick Heroes is a rocking good time making full use of the Switch’s unique motion controls perfect for you and all your metal loving friends. Be sure to keep those Joy-Cons strapped to your wrists!
GOOD - If you’re a fan of the legendary animated series then you’ll no doubt find enjoyment here cutting up Aku’s robotic army as Samurai Jack. Just don’t expect much more than that out of this title.
MEDIOCRE - This is not the anime game that you’re looking for. You might be tempted to play it just to fight as your favorite manga hero, but chances are you’ll just ultimately end up as disappointed as I was. With performance issues, lack of quality audio visual presentation, and a bunch of grinding to unlock characters, this fighting game leaves much to be desired.
EXCELLENT - Fight Crab is a fun and silly escape from the anxiety inducing year that is 2020. Do yourself a favor and pick it up, play with some friends, and have a crab flipping good time.
GOOD - Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a (lazy) collection of some of Mario’s best 3D ventures and some of the best video games ever made. Is it an obvious cash grab? Yes. Will you buy it? Probably.
EXCELLENT - It’s you against 34 other Marios in a quest to be last plumber standing. With plenty of risk/reward gameplay and an exciting twist on a tried-and-true formula, this limited time experience shouldn’t be missed. What are you still doing reading this? GOOD - Suda51’s original vision is on full display here in No More Heroes. The Switch port is now the best way to play the classic title from the Wii era. It’s not for everyone but fans of superheroes and anime will undoubtedly find joy here.
GREAT - Bigger and bolder than its predecessor, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is a fantastic sequel to the Wii cult classic. Now, the game looks better than ever and thanks to the Switch there are plenty of ways to play and stay faithful to the original’s motion controls.
GOOD - Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack is a decent game for hardcore fans of the beloved Japanese drum rhythm game but I find it hard to recommend it to anyone outside of that core audience. If you’re looking for more variety and a much bigger song list, check out Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun, which is more of a greatest hits of the franchise.
EXCELLENT - The wizards at Panic Button have once again done the impossible of porting one of the biggest and greatest shooters of 2020, maybe all time, offering Switch owners the chance to hunt demons anywhere and anytime. It’s time to rip ‘n’ tear on the go with Doom Eternal.
