Crooked Broom Alan Wake 2 Review
Nov 20, 2025
I'm a fully-fledged adult. That is to say that my life is crammed full with so many responsibilities that instead of being able to play video games for 8 hours a day like I used to, I know only get a handful of hours a month to enjoy. That has resulted in my preference of games and style changing. I don't have the time to get 100% on games, I don't like to grind for levels, I don't want to run around in circles during my stolen moments of game play only to feel like I haven't accomplished anything. And if I'm playing a story-driven game, that story better be good.
Alan Wake 2 was really good. It took me over a year to finish this game with the time that I had available to play and I don't consider a single second of that wasted. I have a huge, long, ever-growing list of games to play behind this one and I'm going to put them on the back burner so that I can also play the DLC's. Heck, I might even spend the next year playing The Final Draft. I loved this game, and a thousand other reviews can tell you why.
The only complaint I have, was that the graphic requirements to play this game were a bit ridiculous. My custom-built PC is no slouch, but I still could only run this game on medium settings. Not that you could tell, the graphics were phenomenal. The problem came when they refused to render and suddenly Saga is talking to a bunch of colored blocks instead on her grandfather. Or when every single major cut scene had huge issues with audio-sync and lag. Thank goodness for subtitles. I can see how this can make the game incredibly frustrating for other players and for some people that might be a breaking point, but for me it was mostly comedic and only occasionally mildly infuriating. The story itself did an amazing job of making all of the cosmetic issues worth putting up with. 10/10 would play again.
