D4VID0 Avowed Review
Mar 30, 2025
Avowed was often compared to The Elder Scrolls in trailers and, in my opinion, was somewhat misrepresented, as it follows its own unique and exciting path. The world is compact yet visually stunning, with four large and two linear areas that feel distinct. The vertical level design and parkour mechanics make exploration a true highlight. Its beautiful graphics create breathtaking panoramas, showcasing the diverse environments. Pro tip: Disable some HUD elements for a more immersive experience!
The story is gripping, with impactful choices that shape the narrative in the short and long term. The four companions are well-written, each with a unique side quest reminiscent of the crew missions in Mass Effect 2. Other side quests vary in quality. Combat is fast-paced but simplistic, with limited gear variety and enemy types—RPG purists may find it lacking.
Despite its flaws, Avowed is an underrated gem that excels in atmosphere, exploration, and character depth. The playtime, including many side quests, is around 35–40 hours. However, even on hard difficulty, the game is not particularly challenging. If you value story-driven adventures with strong characters and meaningful choices, this game delivers.
A compelling RPG with a stunning world—not for hardcore RPG fans, but a true Obsidian experience!
