Dagad Esoteric Ebb Review

Apr 3, 2026
Esoteric Ebb is a hilarious, engaging, and remarkably fresh take on the CRPG genre. While the influences of D&D and Disco Elysium are clear, it never feels derivative—instead, it carves out its own weird niche. Personal highlights: - The fact that this is largely a one-man project is very commendable. The level of depth achieved is grand. - The story and dialogue are the stars here. It is witty, grounded, and features some truly great political takes that feel relevant without being overbearing. - I was pleasantly surprised by the combat system. It’s handled with a unique flair that fits the narrative pace perfectly, rather than feeling like a chore between dialogue segments. - The soundtrack is mesmerising, drifting between ethereal vibes and high-energy combat themes that really get the juices flowing. Overall a brilliant blend of tabletop mechanics and philosophical gibberish. If you want a game that challenges your brain while feeding your soul (and your ears), this is it.
