Daniel Bloodborne Review

Dec 10, 2024
Bloodborne is like a nightmare. Even when you stop playing it, it hunts you in your dreams. That's how you know it's a great game. My experience with Bloodborne was not simple, tho. I tried it 3 times and never clicked with me. Probably because it is a very intimidating game, and I usually don't have the stomach for horror stuff. But Bloodborne is so unique in its visuals and settings that made me want to try one last time. After I completed the first area of the game and began to understand its mechanics, it finally clicked with me. It's a very intense game. The dlc and the last chalice dungeons are where the difficult spike increases, but even then, I found it to be much more doable than some other games in its genre/sub genre. Maybe because of its fluid combat and movements. The atmosphere and art direction are some of the best I've ever experienced in any form of media. The level design is very intriguing and sometimes perfect, especially when you're walking and exploring the city of Yharnam. I love the way they made the levels feel open and, in a way, like a maze while still being very linear. But then it has areas that are completely devoid of this, with frustrating and confusing design elements. It also feels like the base game is unfinished in a way. By the time I reached the final area, I felt there was something wrong with the passing. It's shorter than it looks, and the story feels uneven, which I still don't know if that's a good thing or not. The loading screens also require a lot of patience. I wish I didn't have to travel to the hunter's dream (Bloodborne's hub area), every time I want to go to another location. Sometimes there will be the need to farm for materials, which I didn't mind that much, but for some, it might be a bit frustrating. Bloodborne is like no other, I completely fell in love with its world. Truly recommend it, unless you don't want to have nightmares (in a good way).
