DaveM12DIM Assassin's Creed Shadows Review
Apr 27, 2025
The open world frankly is mind-blowing. dynamic weather, seasons changing . no game has ever looked so good. Autumn especially was absolutely incredible. The fact you can go somewhere in summer, tall bushes and vegetation to hide in, the exact same place in autumn, the bushes are dying out. If people want to rave about the wind in Tsushima for half a decade, they should absolutely be raving about the weather systems and seasons in shadows for another half decade. In years to come gamers will come to realise how groundbreaking this is.
The density of the open world is just incredible as well, vegetation everywhere, little villages, towns, camps, castles, cities, its just constant, there's no 2 miles of nothing but grass or sand to cross to get to the next objective. the world is insanely packed.
The stealth is pretty typical AC Stealth. The combat pretty typical parry/dodge based AC combat. Nothing to write home about (although the stealth is a big improvement on the previous RPG games.
Story.. main story is ok, pretty generic revenge story, but the flashback/background stories you get from meditating at the little orange icons, really flesh out the motivation and background for Noe. Its one of those games I think doing the side content as you go is an absolute must. I challenge anyone to find a better looking open world in gaming.
