ddwdsd Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Review
Feb 26, 2026
The game design on the surface is a 4.5 or 5/5 star game. But the coding is very bad. Here are some examples.
1. The net code disconnect issues,
2. extremely long loading screens,
3. constant crashes (1-2 games crashing every 4 hours of play)
4. The mechanics of dodge, parry being your iframe survival mechanics are great in theory, but in practice, they have long input buffer windows inbetween all attacks, dodges, parries etc. Making it so if u need to parry or dodge after pressing any other button, odds are the game will lock you out starting a chain stun>
5. Chain stuns: The lockout when you get knocked down or staggered is so long that you are often not able to input a parry or a dodge after being staggered, meaning if u get hit by anything that staggers you, the odds of you being chain stunned 100-0 dead is very high.
6. the input buffer issues make the combat feel clunky and out of your control at the highest difficulty. There is very little personal agency in the clutch situations of the game because of this. Surviving moments where you're surrounded heavily is mostly up to RNG of the enemy attack timings, hoping that no attacks slip inbetween the excessively long lockout buffer windows.
7. Lastly, they don't directly show the stats, or have anywhere you can read properly how mechanics work. Outside of looking it up via an outside wiki source, you have absolutely no way of knowing the massive differences between for example gunstrike damage multipliers on different side arms, or how defense types change how your parry works in a massive way for each type.
I would like to recommend this game to people, because it's fun and the warhammer space marine lore is really cool. But gameplay is king for gamers. And unfortunately the gameplay is clunky and out of your control. Until they fix their crashes disconnects and lockout timers on almost every input, the gameplay will continue to be bad. There are no other "hotfixes" they could do to fix these fundamental issues.
